For those who are successful at executing the hack, please share how it was done. I tried to send it to another store but that didn't work. I am thinking the store will give me a hard time not picking up both at the same time, and likely the same for the return of the battery alone.
While I have never done the "hack" myself if HD really wanted to stop this they could pretty easily. That being said they don't so it's a bit pointless to not take advantage of these deals. That being said everyone that I have seen do this has just returned it right after they picked it up with no issues. If the store gives you a hard time. Well I don't blame them but it isn't against their policy.

Not to family with these and I'm sure they would work well for drilling and screwing. Would these be great for working on a car or would I need something more powerful? Most tasking would probably be taking off lug nuts from a tire.

Our stores here in OKC doesn't bat an eye when I return the hacks. As long as the items are separate and itemized on the receipt it's all fair game. I usually do in-store pick up and turn around and return the "extra" I don't need. Never an issue here. I also did one in Colorado Springs for my dad a while back and no issues.

For working on car they may be ok but not lug nuts, I have m18 and that impact isn't great for lug nuts either

For working on cars get m12 stubby 3/8 impact wrench first, that"ll cover most stuff even lug nuts although I still prefer the m18 1/2" impact wrench for lug nuts as it takes about 2/3 knock impacts to get lugs off whereas the m12 stubby will take 10-15 knocks depending on the battery you have so it'll put more wear on sockets as well
you can always use 3/8 to 1/4 impact adapter to use for screws etc on stubby, it's better then to step up from 1/4 impact to 3/8

If stubby isn't enough, m12 fuel ratchet might be next one to buy,
I have all of the above and stubby is generally first I reach for, next is the m12 ratchet

This or ridgid 18v brushless drill for $125 that includes 2 batteries and a charger.. I don't have other Milwaukee tools.
Do you own, or plan to own, other Ridgid 18v tools?
2 tools + 2 batteries + 1 charger beats 1 tool + 2 batteries + 1 charger where I went to school.

These are not for taking off lug nuts. You would need an impact Wrench, this is an impact driver for screws mostly.

The smaller M12 tools will fit in areas that the larger Rigid tools won't. The M12 tools are lighter as well, so probably more comfortable to use. The M12 has a much larger selection of tools available if that matters to you.

The Rigid tools aren't bad and if they are cheaper, fit your needs and you don't need the universe of M12 tools to choose from, they might be a better value for you.

I'm always really tempted when I see the M12 deals, but I have a Bosch 12 volt impact drivers and a couple of drills that work just fine for my needs.

Is that 5ah high output better than the normal 6ah 12v battery?
I have the 2, 4, and 6amh battery, and much prefer the 6 for heavier chores like driving lags and drilling holes in concrete.
The 2ah was useless in driving 1/2' lags. The 4ah did well with the lags but it took the 6am to finish drilling all the holes in concrete.

From what I have read, the 5ah HO should be stronger than my regular 6ah.

Can you just have this delivered and return only the battery to the store for a refund?
