Not really, no. Performax is probably better quality overall and it has a 10' cord vs. a 6' cord on the Bauer. I bought the Performax when they were similarly priced last year mainly because of the extra cord length and am happy with it.

I bought this sander with some minor discounts (ended up around $35). It's fantastic. Used it to build a bunch of DIY speaker boxes out of 1/2 inch MDF and this was a champ.

My old Bosch died and this is stronger with better dust control.
I've got three porter cable random orbits. They EAT the veclro sanding pads -- they vibe so much that the screw heads elongate and make the head too large to hold pad on. Replacement pads are $15-$20. Last time it happened I needed a sander NOW and bought one of these. It's been going strong for over a year. I'm going to grab another of these and throw the three PCs on craiglist as a $15 "needs new pads" package deal. Wink

It might be a bit too fast and could burn the paint. I would use a dedicated buffer. They are reasonably priced.

Nice deal! I have 2 random orbital sanders now and I am going to grab this one.

Make it dedicated for polishing polyurethane.

I was going to say no, but apparently you now can!
Yes, you can use this to wax your car and it will probably look great, it will also take a very long time with a 5" pad though. Make sure you get a pad designed for waxing, don't want to add scratches

As a sander this thing works great. However it catches almost NONE of the dust. It's almost comical how little gets in there.

And yes I have my holes aligned.

Hercules is their top quality tool. Warrior/Chicago Electric=Good, Bauer=Better, Hercules=Best.

You should connect it to a shop vac. Will drastically improve the dust extraction and will make sanding faster and sanding disks last longer.

It's a good sander for solid wood. I use mine daily and love it. I like it because it's powerful and spins well. The only flaw is the dust collection box, they all seem to fall off over time. But the port is a basic round pipe so it would be pretty darn easy to hook it up to a vacuum dust collector hose.

Depends on your use case. The Hercules is a bit heavier and will probably take longer to vibrate your hand to death, and won't bog down as easily. And it has the 10' cord. If you're using it a lot, probably keep the Hercules. If you're using it only occasionally, I'd probably swap for the Bauer and save the $30 to put toward something that gets used more often.
