I have the Fiskar Power Lever 28" loppers, they worked great for years until a few days ago when the blades bound up and took a big chip out. I tried seeing if Fiskars would do anything for a warranty repair, never heard anything back.

Decided to give Corona a try, and bought some Dual Link MAXFORGED duble bypass loppers ($60). After cutting about 3 branches, the fixed blade side somehow is tweaked, so the blade side would bottom out on the edge of the fixed side and not close all the way. Decided to try go the replacement route from amazon. Bitch of it is that i had to box it up for the return....i had recycled the box so i had to make a giant box to drop off at ups. What a pain.

After all this, i've learned that these kinda things are just disposable. Buy them cheap and replace them. I can get a blade for the fiskars but it will cost $14 with shipping and i think i paid low 20's for them.

Update: got a shipment notice from Fiskar. No response, just sending me "something". We'll see what comes in.
Only 1.5 inch branch can be cut

Just bought it. But it is way heavier than I expected. 2-3 lbs at least. It made my arms VERY sore after using it for only 5-8 mins. Maybe for petite woman who doesn't have strong arms this is not a good choice.

Fiskars has replaced my blade for free twice. Do it on their online warranty portal. They want a picture of the blade. You'll get a new one in a couple of weeks for free. And they will do this for the life of the product. That has been my experience.

you'll spend 10 minutes retightening the extension tubes for every minute of actual use with these… they do slice through pretty easily tho… 1.5" is about right… likely max…
Yeah, this needs regular adjustment of twisting and is a nuisance. I tried to glue it, but didn't work that well. This is the lopper in the $28 (sometimes on sale for $25) Target 3 tools set, so if you also need the 2 tools, it might be cheaper to get the whole set.

Used these recently to prune a tree with lots of 1-2" inch branches. Handled them pretty well. The extension handles were really handy to reach higher branches. Anything over 2" it is just easier to use a simple fold-able pruning handsaw that you can get off Amazon or any hardware store for like 15-20$

an exaggeration, of course, but yeah, the arms do get loose over time. I'd say probably a minute retightening over every 30 minutes spent cutting. At least for the ones I've got. Which doesn't seem like a lot, but it is a nuisence. Other than that though, they're a good solid tool.

well mine loosens every time i make a cut… they slide either up or down… and i have to readjust and tighten before making the next cut… and of course it depends which way your holding them as to how to turn to tighten them so no i wasn't really exaggerating… I strongly suggest not getting the extendable ones but do endorse the fiskars brand

Have no issues with Fiskars warranty. You have to fill the form out and it takes a bit for them to get back to you. https://d30000001hmdweag.my.sales...sWarranty/

Send a photo and description of the issue and a copy of your receipt/invoice. Problem solved.

I have a replacement of the extendable lever loppers coming warrantied for the rubber bumper between the two halves missing. Which are replacements they sent me for my last loppers that were the extendable twist handle. This newer lever version is far superior to the twist handle version.

How long did it take to get a response? I sent it in on April 1st.
I sent everything in on that form except the receipt.

My photos have a 3/31 date and their first reply was 4/19 and replacement shipped 4/26.

I would keep any emails about the warranty in a separate folder in your email to fall back on should you need to warranty the same product in the future. Apparently they don't keep a record on their end so they made an "exception" for not having the invoice/receipt for the replacement set Fiskars directly sent me that I am currently warrantying. So there was a bit of delay back and forth between their initial contact 4/19 and the ship date 4/26.

Hopefully they'll get back to me soon. Did the replace the entire cutters or just the blade (if the blade is replaceable on yours)

Haven't received the new replacement for the previous warranty replacement yet. It's still in transit so not sure what they are shipping. Although the only problem with this set I warrantied is the rubber cushion between the halves is missing. The metal that holds it is still there just the bushing is MIA. It's a riveted part so I assume I'm getting a whole new lopper. I assume it's a direct replacement for what I warrantied but who knows.

Initial purchase was twist handle loppers. The Fiskars replacement (which I'm now warrantying years later) was still adjustable but they are the flip slide and lock type handles instead of the twist. Which I consider an upgrade since when you latch it down it's locked at the extension level you set vs the twist to lock ones unlocking all the time and a complete PITA!

Wowhttps://i.slickdeals.net/images/smilies2/shocking.gif, I guess there's a lot of variation in quality. If mine were that bad I'd probably give up and try to permanently extend them with super glue or a screw through it or something. Maybe try the warranty route? Seems like some of the other commenters have had some success that way.

Cool. It's been about a month since I submitted my claim. Hopefully they will respond soon.

IME: these are very light duty. With the telescoping feature, the tubing the handles is made from is quite thin. I deformed mine. I should have warrantied them, but didn't bother.

Replaced with the 28" model which are much sturdier. https://www.amazon.com/Fiskars-Garden-Bypass-Lopper-Trimmer/dp/B000BX1IB6/ref=sr_1_2?crid=EZK9TTB4IO... [amazon.com]

I'm reasonably sure that they fact that they are telescoping means that I'm going to hate them,

Probably want to use a saw if going for branches significantly bigger than that. No?
im a fan of the geared style loppers. ive cut 2.5-3" branches with some finesse with those. nice to just have the loppers with me when im out on trails vs carrying a saw.
