We drink a lot of carbonated water in our family and got tired of spending money for the tiny tanks. I have an adapter from Amazon (or eBay, can't remember) to use my own food grade CO2 tank. I had it filled twice in about 5 years for about 40 bucks each time. Cost of the tank plus the first fill is almost the price of this whole set, but the tank will last you years, especially if you don't drink a lot.
From what I understand there are two types of connections on the soda streams, the quick connect adapter like this one has and a threaded one. There are standard hose connections and then upgrades like braided hoses and gauges. US tanks threads are typically CGA320 and euros are W21.8-14. Links below. I got the exact same one on Amazon from aliexpress and saved a few bucks. I fill my tanks at a local brewery or the welding supply which offers beverage grade co2. 5lb tanks cost ~$85 filled and refills are ~$25 near me in ATL. When you go to get them refilled they just swap the tank with a filled one. Make sure you also have a c02 alarm in the house in case of a leak.
Thanks I got one! Great price!
But I had to go to Costco.com directly because when i clicked on the link my browser guard said:

If anyone is on the fence about buying this do it! It's a great value. You are basically paying for the two canisters as they are about $30 each. Also, when you want to refill take the empty CO2 canisters to Target and just pay $15 for a replacement. I make apple soda with apple juice and use Mio to make sugar free mango peach soda.

Can you share the adapter you use? Just bought it from Costco! How big it's your CO2 tank? You have in the kitchen?

I've heard someone say this before....do you add the carbonation straight into the apple juice or do you mix it somehow?

I'm curious to see if my adapter will work with this new quick connect system. I agree that 5lbs cylinder lasts 2 years with family of 4 and reasonable consumption. But the soda stream I've now is leaking gas so I've to keep the main cylinder shut all the time unless I'm refilling. I'm assuming a seal somewhere is broken after 7 years of use. Time you upgrade for sure but want to make sure that adaptor works.

It says to carbonate water only but I put in apple juice instead and add carbonation to it. I don't go all the way to the fill line on the side to avoid having it spew. It's one thing to have carbonated water spew, you don't want sticky apple juice spewing. So yes just carbonate the apple juice. I may put it to 60-70% considering that full is at the fill line on the side.

Yes, please share the adapter and co2 tank you bought? Where did you purchase the food grade canister and where do you get it filled? I read somewhere you can use dry ice somehow but not sure how that works.

Slickdeals won't let me post the direct link but if you just search on Amazon for SodaStream adapter it's a pretty simple system just an adapter and tubing. I drilled a simple hole in the back of the Sodastream machine for the tube and it connects to the tank under our cabinet. It's a 5 lb tank I got from a supply store here in Tampa that also refills it with food grade CO2. I bought a brand new tank because I didn't want the used one from the shop, because they usually just trade yours for theirs but I told them I wanted to keep my new one. If you Google food grade CO2 you should be able to find shops in your city I'm sure.

Slickdeals won't let me post a link but just search Amazon for SodaStream adapter. For the tank (I have a 5lbs but you can get larger ones) and food grade CO2 search for a supply shop in your city there's definitely a few in every city to supply them for restaurants Etc

Thanks, someone knows if there's a good third party sodastream cilynder? Don't have space on kitchen to 5 lb tank

Plastic reusable bottles. I'm glad it's plastic because I've dropped it so many times!

Bring it to your local target and exchange for $15-20 on the spot. Great deal
