Someone reported they received a used C3 in a packed box from Target with 16k hours on it and noticed visible burn-in.

Samsung's S90C has gen 1 panels which may have substantial burn-in probability but does C3 have it too?

Am getting cold feet with respect to OLED, so want to ask If one is using a TV to just project from laptop thru HDMI, will a QLED TV suffice? Because all video will be processed on the laptop itself.

As with every mass produced product in existence, there are going to be some units that have issues. Burn-in is very unlikely these days. It generally comes down to getting a bad panel. Burn-in was a big problem 5-6 years ago. A friend of mine has a 5-year-old OLED that has gotten tons of use, and there is zero burn-in still. My C2 has 5,300 hours on it and no sign of burn-in. I leave it on static images all the time. Unless you just get a bad panel, it's very unlikely you'll ever get burn-in. It's no reason to stay away from OLED. No other display compares to OLED and QD-OLED.

Thanks for the insight.

If you're talking about the Reddit post, they said that whoever purchase it last, switched their old LG and returned it. The store was not supposed to re-sell it.

One other thing I forgot to mention is that some people mistake "temporary image retention" for burn-in. I've had it happen once. I was playing a videogame and I didn't move the camera for a little while, and there was a faint outline of a bright lamp that I had left the screen sitting on. It would follow as I moved the camera. I ran the TV's pixel cleanup and that fixed it right away. Rtings (the #1 electronics review site) has a video that mentions TIR, and that it's not the same as burn-in. Again, I've only had it happen once in all the time I've had the TV. I even tried to get it to happen a second time, by doing the same thing, and I couldn't replicate it. I'm willing to bet there are people who've had that happen, and then they go straight to complaining online about having burn-in.

I'm looking online at where I can pick up these tv's, and some of them say "low stock" while others say "in stock"... I wonder if the ones that say low stock are the ones that have the clearance going on while the in stock stores are the ones that haven't put for sale signs out yet?

Maybe, BUT this is all about cleaning house as the new models arrive, so would a store with more old model units be more compelled to reduce the prices to make space for the new ones? I don't know, just a thought. In summary, go visit them all

Same here in Buford, GA, still at regular price and not many left, so not sure if they'll discount it.

I didn't count how many 55s they had, but I did count 5 units off the 65 model. Getting anxious here. I hope I'm able to swing by when they do decide to pull the plug (which I want to believe they'll do at some point since the C4s are already arriving)

Dropped by at local Costco. Have C4s in house and a lot of C3 stock but no sales just yet 😭. Not sure how to know when it'll go in stock, guess will just be pure luck.

Debating on whether it's worth signing up for a membership to try and get this. I picked up a 55 from Target but it's simply too big for the space but a 48 would be perfect. The difference in width between a 48 and a 55 is just too big lol. I just missed the $800 walmart deal the other night, coupon vanished when I was ready to order

Lol. What a ridiculous comment. Just regurgitating the same misinformation as so many other people who've never owned one. The vast majority of TVs are only 300 nits or less. The C2 and C3 are over 800 nits. That's brighter than some QLEDs. I have a C2 in a very bright room and it is plenty bright. I would laugh so hard if I found out you're just rocking a regular LED TV with 300 nits, while calling these, "too dim."
I would agree in part on their opinion. I own both C3 and Hisense U8k, the Hisense handles bright rooms with direct sunlight better. So kept the U8k in the living room and the C3 in my bedroom.

Not putting down the C3 at all as it is a fantastic TV, reason why I have it and kept it.

Mini led is better for bright rooms thus Sony and Samsung has these as their top of lineup this 2024

Personally, I find the membership easily pays for itself; especially with the CC + executive match. That said, I'm sure someone would be willing to trade up to a 55 with the right incentives.

People really need to stop worry about burn in. It's a non issue. It's been the big buggaboo since the plasma days and even back then with older technology it was largely a non issue. Nowadays with pixel shift and built in cleaning programs it's a total non issue. Only time I would worry about it is when considering buying a display model.

As a personal anecdote my main TV is a 15 year old plasma and I game with persistent static displays. The only issue I had was some temporary image retention when I paused Star Wars on a Hoth scene. It was gone in a couple days.

Also for the technology itself Wulfden has done a test on YouTube where he's had an OLED Switch on a static screen or over a year and it finally got burn in after months and months of being constantly on. So again. Burn in for OLED is a non issue.
