Picked one up, always wanted a hagstrom Viking and proaudiostar is awesome
ProAudioStar is only awesome if you like what you receive, in my experience. If you don't like it, plan to pay the shipping in both directions plus a hefty restock fee.

Absolutely true. I figure at this price, worst case I'll put it back up on reverb for about the same amount of $.

I don't know much about Hagstrom's guitars. At their price point (even for this one), I'm wondering what would make them better than, say, an Epiphone ES335 or my Epiphone Sheraton II Pro. My Chinese Epiphones, a Les Paul Standard Pro and that Sheraton, are outstanding, but if I'm getting into this tier of pricing, maybe I expect something different.

They are actually pretty darn close. It's probably a bit of preference tbh. The pups on the Viking will be a bit hotter, less warm. Although I think I like the bridge tone better on the Viking than the epi. The neck is way thinner than the epi too, but not flat backed like an Ibanez. I also am probably unique in that I just like the vibe of the Viking. I already have a 1966 Gibson 335, which I am sure will smoke this thing in terms of tone, but for 500 bucks it can sit in my office and if someone bangs it up I won't care.
