The effective area of the (3) 24"x16" panels is 2'x4'
A 2'x4' sheet of wood pegboard is like $12 at HD. 4'x8' is $25.
Not a great deal unless you really need the separate smaller panels (though you can cut wood to size) or want to use magnets to hang some of your tools.
Ikea is all proprietary and you're not gonna save money buying their special hooks when you can get a bucket of standard peg hangers on the cheap.
If you have a Sam's Club membership, they sell Seville Classics pegboards two 24x24" for about the same price. And they come with accessories https://www.samsclub.com/p/sevill.../P03019286

If I'm looking at getting peg boards would you recommend a standard peg board or opting for the ikea version with the slots instead of holes
I have the owned the particle board for over 15 years. My biggest complaint was the hooks would sometimes fall out but they make a plastic sleeves that hold the hooks in place. I have not only other ones. I forgot you cannot mount it flush with the wall behind it because the hooks have to push into it.

I'd say it depends on where you're gonna use it. I have a few of the ikea boards inside and hung up around my crafting and model painting area. I feel the accessories ikea sells are geared more towards hobby's and desktop type stuff
My garage has regular pegboard as it's easy and much cheaper to buy regular hooks when I need more storage for tools and equipment. I also don't feel too bad about cutting up and marring my garage pegboards. The ikea ones feel more premium. But don't work well with traditional hooks. They kind of created a walled garden for peg boards lol
This looks nice. Do I need some sort of spacer for this board? I'm thinking buying the Wall Control, but this definitely is more budget-wise.
No, these are already made so that the board can do straight up against the wall and have space for the pegs to go through. The kit does come with a bunch of screws and spacers though if you need
Also came to comment that I think you'd be better off going with the stuff from Sam's. It's $38 for two 24 x 24 sheets with a bunch of pegs and types of hooks. It's extremely quality and comes in nice colors.
If you have a 3d printer there are a TON of excellent pegboard accessories. I gave all of my metal hooks to a friend after I 3d printed shelves, bins and holders for all of my tools and supplies, and its soooo much nicer.

IKEA isn't bad because the board itself is pretty nice, and you can find accessories made by third-parties specifically for the IKEA board for reasonable prices. I bought a number of hooks and such that fit almostly perfectly, certainly usable, for maybe 1/4 the price of the comparable IKEA brand ones.

I have used both...
Standard peg board
Pros: can use generic hooks, cheap, lots of compatible bins
Cons: bland no frills, bins are sometimes not aesthetically good looking
Ikea peg board:
Pros: looks nice, clean and can be used inside the house without it looking like a shop wall, bins are well designed
Cons: expensive, the slots are fitted only for Ikea bins and hooks, cannot use standard peg board (ie will not align)

Thanks. I guess I had a feeling that would be the difference. More garage shop feeling va more elegant cleaner in house design. Thanks I really appreciate you input
