I'd like to point out that if a gfx card needs 150watts. You need to shoot above that. If the power supply is older or the bargain bin stuff used in these computers designed to run cash registers at business. You have to factor in the likely hood that even if 310 watts were enough that its high likely hood it draws 310 watts from the wall an not outputs it's. Unless you have like a super high end platnium or gold power supply, it's probably gonna run at 80% what it draws.

An i didn't take a look at its insides; but I know modern dells I seen look like this way, an in the past other companies have proprietary power supplies. which means it uses a different form factor an you'll never find an upgrade if it does.

Definitely the smaller one is just to browse the web an or most likely these are sold in bulk as cash registers an at data processing /call center work computers..

Also most people's gfx cards are better than the original overprice stock of whatever model. So when looking it up if you wanna add up what you need an have a 20% overhead ; make sure you factor in the likely hood your gfx card is probably better than the stock reference model vs the other 50 versions of it which almost always are better thus drawing more power
I have actually already done all that.
It is a proprietary power supply with 4 different models to choose from
180, 310, 400 and a 500. all can be bought off eBay new under $70 in most cases.

Example if the HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop shipped with a gtx 1650 it's likely a 180W PSU
If the same HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop shipped with a 3060 it will most likely have a 400 or 500W already installed. The systems are already built with the proper components.

The $280 one I bought (this deal) on 4/15
I upgraded with a 1660 Super and a 310w PSU never pulled over 190W from the wall
I have also upgraded the cpu cooler and replaced the 256gb NVME with a 1TB.

The 310w is labeled HP TP01 TE01 310W 80 Plus Gold PSU OEM Power Supply [ebay.com]
or the 400w
400W L04618-800 Power Supply Fit HP [ebay.com]

In the past i've normally bought Dell refurbished but haven't seen any good deals there in quite a while. Missed this one but anyone know who actually refurbishes these machines? Is it the seller himself? HP??
I'm always leery of refurbished from random sellers even though this one has excellent reviews.

These appear to be HP factory refurbished based on quantity, selection, specifications, and condition.

Any options similar to this for a bit more money that have a power supply big enough for a 3060 video card? That and the SSD are the only things I want to bring over from my current desktop when I upgrade.

This one appears to come with a 400W power supply, although verifying that isn't so easy. Also has a pre-installed RX 5500. $404 shipped.

I made a Upgrade shopping list for this if anyone is interested
https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlis..._=wl_share

Also links to the PSU I used are
The 310w is HP TP01 TE01 310W 80 Plus Gold PSU OEM Power Supply
or the 400W L04618-800 Power Supply Fit HP

for completeness here's my post from the other thread
Quote :
Just an update
My PC arrived in Fantastic condition on first boot it went straight to the desktop no setup needed added my wifi and started updating and downloading benchmark apps and testing.
Today the 310W PSU was delivered so I went ahead and did the upgrades
16gb 3200mhz Ram
1660 Super and another 1 TB SSD loaded with Emulation games.
Ryujinx,Rpcs3 and CEMU run great, Xenia is having a hard time.(just needed an update).
Xemu is also doing ok with just a couple quits to the desktop.

Overall a pretty fun project, the 1660S is working fine with the 310W PSU. Under full system load it's only pulling about 195W from the wall.

If your interested in adding a larger graphics card (Note: they must be under 10.5" in length) it breaks down like this for PSU's
500W
3070-6700XT-2070S or a RX5700

400W
2060- 2060S-3060-3060TI

310W
1660S or TI - Rx5500 - 1050TI
As of Today 5/1/24 these are in stock at $299 .. still not a bad deal
