That's a lot of $$$
Love mine, however I'd wait for Syncbox 2 to come out (rumored to released early 2024, so it's overdue). The current Syncbox has older tech and doesn't support HDMI 2.1
I absolutely love mine. It makes my TV screen feel larger and more immersive.

I think it looks amazing! I don't know if I like this particular setup because I recall the boxes don't do HDR or Dolby Atmos or something...

It's really good on an OLED and in a dark room. Bright colors look really cool (kid shows or animated movies). Looks less cool on regular shows like Shogun or sports.

There are significantly cheaper alternatives in my opinion.

I've had the hue sync box for years. Works perfectly with HDR and DolbyVision stuff.

I have a Samsung oled tv s90c and I hear I can just use the app instead? Would it be worth just waiting for a deal on just a lightstrip without sync box, or do you think sync box 2 will have features that even the tv app will not have ?

Anyone install these lights on a TV that sits flat up against the wall? For example, LG OLED G series. Thx

I'm potentially interested in getting a 65" set but I'm wondering if this price is close to the lowest this has ever been. Costco.com usually has great prices. I didn't think they would stock this gradient lightstrip.

Question: I know this lightstrip doesn't cover the bottom. Would it make sense to buy the 75" strip for a 65" TV set to try to cover the bottom edge of the TV somewhat?
Edit: I just saw a YouTube video and looks like you would need a couple of extra 90-degree bend corner mounts in order to bend a longer strip to cover some of the bottom. I'd say it's better to get the right size based on the TV screen size.

I bought an s95 for my brother and when he looked at the app it was 130 dollars and tied to the TV...you won't be able to use in another room if you buy another oled without paying again. That said 4K @120hz on a ps5 or xbox series X will look great when synced and my personal experience is that the sync box flickered alot at random times where the app does not. There used to be a trial period for the app so maybe try it for 10 days of so and get a refund if not satisfied

Another option (not mentioned) is that if you use an htpc, you can use the hue app and setup entertainment zones which can sync across anymedia you can consume on your pc input. This is what I se as my daily driver for movies with light sync

I feel like it would just be distracting. Anyone have experience with it?

It's amazing and changes your whole TV watching experience. Everyone who comes to my house is in awe. Watch some videos of it in action via YouTube. I have this setup and 1 signe lamp on each side of the TV. This is a smoking deal.

Sell the sync box and get the light bar for the net after sale. 💰

I had this set up on my home theater PC for several years. Heads up, you don't need the box if your PC is connected to your TV. The app is free.

It's really nice at first, but after about two years, I started wanting to just watch or play games in total darkness.

It can be distracting, depending on the content you're watching.

This is VERY difficult for some setups and agree that Sync 2 is a good wait if you're this far. I had to do a LOT of jiggering with my modem to split the 2.4 and 5Ghz bands, then reboot the entire mesh, then move the mesh pods around, then it turned out the Sync didn't work in my media cabinet at all and had to be placed literally on the floor or it didn't work. Then it listened to Alexa and wouldn't respond to the app, then later it would do the App and not Alexa (where I'm stuck now).
I swapped my Sync box for a different one and did factory resets (no small feat) probably 20 times.
I placed the Hue Hub in two different locations (only works right next to the router), and basically had guess and check to figure out all these variables. It once worked for 6 months then just... stopped responding.
When I upgraded my projector, I had to get a downscaling HDMI splitter to send a lower-bitrate signal to the non-2.1 ready sync box but still get quality 4k on the screen.

It... works. And it's amazing. But what a PITA.

First make sure your TV can support the app (I think newer models don't).

Second the app costs $100. While the app has 1 advantage (it'll work with any video whereas the sync box requires the video to come through on hdmi, thus rendering apps on the TV unable to sync) I'd rather get something future proof

Wait your joking right? The syncbox doesn't support hdmi 2.1 and they want $400 for the kit? Unbelievable that people would even consider this...

Search for HYPERHDR on Google. It's a DIY solution, does the same thing for way less money. But it's not at all plug and play. That said, I love mine.
