They stink like chemicals to high hell, but for $.89/pound it's a stellar deal. To be honest you like need nothing less than 25lbs

Oh, so when you go up in weight on the bar you go up by 50 pound increments? SMH

That comment is kind of garbage. I have 6-1.25 lbs plats. I got them for my son he is 13 To make small increments in weight increases. And found for high rep lower weight training I end up using them all the time. I originally got the 260 lbs set of these. The smell is a real thing, but seems to have went away fairly quickly. This does seem like a steel.

The 15, 35, and 55 lbs plates are more a PITA than useful. My advice for anyone starting out, buy four 2.5, four 5 lbs plates (cheapest you can find), six 10s, and then only 25s.

The 20 and 50 lbs increments are perfect for warmup sets and you'll spend less time loading/unloading as you progress through your sets.

A 16" sleeve will let you load a bar well over 400 lbs using 25s and 10s. If/when you get strong enough that you need more, buy a 1-2 pair of 45s.

Yeah that part of the comment made no sense. I am guessing he is talking about not needing anything under 25lbs in bumper plates? The 10 lb bumper plates, depending on the brand of course, can be very thin and flimsy compared to the larger sizes since they usually match the diameter of the larger plates. A 10 bumper hitting the floor when you're dropping deadlift or Olympic weightlifting can be more prone to get damaged or warped much easier than the large plates that distribute the weight more in my experience. You instead could just use a smaller iron plate that wouldn't hit. But 10lb bumpers can be useful for other things, I personally like having both bumper and iron but that's not feasible for everyone.

Went with the CAP Beast barbell too, for those just getting into lifting
