FYI, these don't come with free batteries like the other lantern deals. That's why it's cheaper in price? Also, it's not as bright as compare to the others. Or maybe I got bad ones. Can anyone else confirm?

I got a few of thse cheap laterns before. the light level is about the same.

can confirm it doesn't come with battery. I would prefer it this way to make it cheap. those batteries that comes with these laterns are cheap POS china stuff anyway that you don't wnt to rely on in a real situation.

Years ago I bought lanterns that looked VERY similar to these lanterns with a similar price. They work well, but you MUST make sure you do NOT keep the batteries inside the lantern when the lantern is not in use, because months of battery storage inside the lantern will cause the batteries to leak, & the leakage will damage both the battery & lantern.

One of my lanterns broke that way. Another one still works well, because I store the batteries in plastic wrap next to the lantern. I only install the batteries into the lantern when I actually use the lantern. After usage, I remove the batteries from the lantern & store the batteries in plastic wrap.

I think that has more to do with the batteries quality/brand. I do notice this behavior amoung alot of electornics.

I agree that battery quality matters, but I used Duracell batteries with good online reviews. These Duracell batteries still leaked with this lantern within a couple of months.

I have other flashlights (e.g., Sofirn & various generic brands) without this battery leaking problem. These other flashlights are ~1 year old to a couple of years old.
