Agree, but if you order from Whole Foods at least once a month it makes sense. They currently charging $9.99 per delivery.

This is a good deal for EBT people who don't want to pay for Prime since you can get still get it for $5 a month. The service provided is better than Kroger's delivery offering but I'd say maybe on par with Safeway (if you balance the pros and cons). Although personally, I don't know if you can really save money buying Amazon groceries over Kroger/Safeway if you mostly stick to what is on sale.

For non-EBT Prime, this is just a straight up cash grab to charge for something they use to give for free, right? Mainly it's just removing the delivery fees from the $35 to $100 purchase range, I think.

So amazon wants to jack up the price of prime to $160, start charging for no ads in prime video, then another $120 a year to deliver groceries? These folks are straight nickel and diming now.

What exactly makes the service different than other delivery services? Isn't the primary difference that you're ordering from Whole Foods instead of Kroger?

Besides total sub pricing, yearly vs monthly sub pricing, ancillary benefits, delivery windows [how fast and how small], method of delivery (refrigerated truck vs a Honda Accord), delivery coupons, product substitution policy, fuel rewards, employee shopper vs 3rd party, etc...not much I suppose.

It can also of course be YMMV depending on your regional market and chain affiliate.

Amazon is quickly becoming my last option instead of my first. WalMart+ is much better value.

Remember this also includes Amazon Fresh (for those that have it - they are expanding a lot in California). Cheaper than Whole Foods, similar to other large chains (perhaps a little cheaper).

Still, Walmart+ (which is included with my credit card) plus Aldi is still better value for me.

I used to use the old Amazon food delivery - the one from ~5 years ago. In fact, I still use the large green bags they give you for Costco runs Smilie

I still use the Amazon plastic reusable crates (return when you can) that were part of Amazon Fresh Seattle ~2010
