You would hope but the curved part of the screen will absolutely be the weakest part of the phone. I would probably break it in a few months because I have a few conditions that affect my coordination, unfortunately and I drop things a lot. I always get a military grade case and not even an additional screen protector is going to protect this enough.
Oneplus must be really desperate to move these

I've used the metal cases that are typically no named China made metal cases but they have screws holding it together with a silocone insert. They have a raised ridge far superior to anything I've ever seen on a phone case. Yes they add weight and size and quite a bit cause the cases are bigger in general. But incredibly durable and I recommend them to people that drop there phone a lot or don't have insurance.
I dropped my phone from a 3 story window that landed on concrete of the basement level. The phone had a line in the screen but was otherwise fine. I replaced the screen and it cost me like $300 so it wasn't a complete save. On the other hand... I was impressed because the phone worked and was not shattered. The case completely fell apart but the phone didn't.
My review was not even accepted but I included pictures and everything. I know it's hard to believe but, these types of phone cases are insane. Been using them since my Galaxy s9+ cause I'm always on the job and am prone to dropping when taking pictures or video on a jobsite.
This is what they look like, not specific brand cause there are plenty.

i remember older samsung phones were big PIA with their curved screens..
"older Samsung phones"? You mean last year's model? Lol.
I have the S22 Ultra. I hate curved edge screens but made the sacrifice for the premium model of the time. The S24 Ultra is the first one to ditch the curved edge display in a long time. Sad that it took Samsung that long to realize that people haven't cared about curved edge panels for years.
