I really wish phone makers wouldn't use the curved edge screen gimmick anymore. I would already have bought one of these otherwise. I drop my phone way too much to take that risk.
that's a big change as far as phones go...
I completely agree the 16/256 is much better than the 8/128

How is the security on these devices? Is there any to speak of?

You would hope but the curved part of the screen will absolutely be the weakest part of the phone. I would probably break it in a few months because I have a few conditions that affect my coordination, unfortunately and I drop things a lot. I always get a military grade case and not even an additional screen protector is going to protect this enough.
I got tired of breaking my expensive phone screens so I switched to folio flip cases. The ones with a magnetic shut. Obviously if you are still dropping it a lot in the middle of using it then it can still break, but 99.9% of my drops are after I closed the case so I haven't broken a screen since.

I have a OP 12 with a curved screen. A case absolutely helps. I just have a bumper case, but if you drop it face down on a display surface the screen won't hit. The curved part isn't at any greater risk in my experience. Source, I've dropped my phone face down.

Nope, it's a severe risk. My OP8 hit the tub on its side and cracked big time. A case does nothing, b/c the sides aren't protected. The phone survived a ton of drops. But one side hit and it's toast. I was just lucky till that day.

Curved screens should be illegal. It's anti consumer and intentional E waste.

Were you past your return window?
Nope, I bought it 5 days ago. When I called they just basically told me that they are "unable to do a price match/adjustment on a trade off value." When I bought it they were offering $50 for any phone but now it's $100.

If you have some time to kill you might want to try chat or email to get it resolved. Return and rebuy is also an option.

After having 8GB of RAM on phone it all depends on the network/wifi. Overloading to 16GB does not help with anything.. On computer you need more if you do programming and stuff for surfing its just a waste. Thats why apple makes money with min configig phones and laptops.
Not sure what Wi-Fi has to do with ram management. I've used the 8gb and the 16gb version of this phone and there's definitely a huge multitasking difference. 8gb should be fine but for whatever reason it's not in my opinion for this specific phone. 16gb however gets the job done for sure.

Probably but I've never used the real Verizon before. I'm using Spectrum right now and they use Verizon. I just put my SIM card in and everything works.

My 12R came in yesterday, I didn't even open the box until finishing the chat. OnePlus in their wisdom refused to process the price match credit, so I asked for a return instead. (Rep still proceeded to ask why I'm returning, LOL)
So, they would rather pay the money for my return and for the next one to ship, rather than just cut a $50 discount. ...Whatever, the time to drop it off at FedEx etc. is worth $50 bucks to me. (If you already opened and set it up, I get why that would be a pain)

Is it just the processor you want to know about, or the whole phone?
See my earlier comment (pg4)... I'm expressly here to be replacing my PITA Pixel 7. The Google Tensor SoC's will be better at some AI tasks, chiefly image processing, but the S.D. 8gen2 in this phone will be miles better at virtually everything else that affects your daily experience.

still worked.

just traded in my old 1+ 6t and got $160 value which brought down the price to $316.99 for the 16gb model, using the student discount promo.

not bad for a 6yr old phone Smilie

tnx op

Not really its not like you can put a case over the screen. Stupid design choice imo one drop on the side and you're probably done. Great phone otherwise perhaps a bit too big.

I'm typing this on my OnePlus 11 and the clear rubber bumper case im using absolutely covers the side glass just FYI.

their phones are curved screen right? are they ok to work with?
i remember older samsung phones were big PIA with their curved screens..

This does technically have a carved screen, but it is a very modest curve. It's nothing like a pixel 6 pro or an s22 ultra or something. It's just the most slight curve.
