Lowest price ever?
For serious athletes this is far superior to the optical monitor on your watch.
This is the PLUS model where they finally fixed the battery compartment to where you can open/close it without tools and without leaks and without it failing in a year
(Garmin will swap out up to 1 year but be sure to open a ticket with them if you sense any problem at all in the 12th month!)
It can connect both via ANT+ and Bluetooth (at the same time) though you only get running dynamic via ANT+
It can also act as a simulated foot pod for speed and distance for indoor running or when the weather is so bad outside the GPS is unreliable.
It is waterproof but if you do flip turns in a pool it will pull the strap out too much, really only open water swimming for this model.
There is a download feature that works only with Garmin watches to where if the strap disconnects during an activity like swimming, it can still save the heartrate data (also works with running/cycling).
Make sure the seller is Amazon, other sellers seem to be piggybacking onto the price

But if you want accurate numbers this is a must have. I have a top of the line epix pro 2 and it still is not close to as accurate as the strap.

I have a Samsung Galaxy watch 6 that I use for my fitness tracking.
I have a Samsung Galaxy watch 6 that I use for my fitness tracking.
It will just be a "dumb" HRM strap.
Even the download features won't work.
The one really stupid thing about the Garmin straps is they must be started with a watch or phone to start the memory recording feature.
Unlike the wahoo tickrX which can start by itself without a watch/phone
However the wahoo notoriously breaks all the time and is inaccurate, bad reviews on amazon.

The strap goes on right before a run and I have to start the recording on my watch anyways for it to start recording regardless of whether I have the strap or not.
Connection between watch and strap is seamless and reliable. I wish I could say the same about the watch to my Bluetooth headset.

For anyone looking for an alternative to chest strap heart rate monitors, the optical arm band options are very accurate and a lot more comfortable in my experience.
Couple optical HR armband options:
Polar Verity Sense - https://a.co/d/6cPNoFI
Polar OH1 (older version but still very accurate and not many differences from Verity Sense although VS prevents flipping on your arm better) - https://a.co/d/bQkh3dB
Good review comparing various watches, armbands, and chest straps - https://www.dcrainmaker
