This is the lowest price I have seen the 12in in some time. You must enter the code: BOSCHSAVINGS at checkout for the full discount to be applied.

FREE Shipping

Without the code, there is only a 7% saving for a $599 price tag.

In my opinion, no, if someone needs a miter saw for home improvement projects this is more miter saw than they really need. This miter saw is probably best for permanent installations where the saw will be setup and used all the time and the space that the saw takes up is an important consideration. The design is one of the shallowest sliding miter saws. So, if space is really important then it's great. This saw is really heavy at 65 pounds, so it's not one that you want to move around a lot. I want one, but even at this really good price, I can't justify replacing my larger and not as nice Metabo HPT. The glide mechanism gets a lot of criticism for play, but it is super smooth, and the one I've tried at my local lumber store doesn't deflect any more than my Metabo HPT. If I didn't already have a miter saw, and I do want it enough that I'd buy it at this price, but I don't "need" it.

Is there a reason for the weekend warrior homeowner to buy this vs other cheaper 12" compound miter saws, such as the Metabo 12" that was recently posted for $300? I just need something that can make accurate cuts for random projects around the house, such as walk in closets, acoustic panels, trim, etc.

Been eyeing this saw and this looks like a great deal. Just purchased. Thanks, OP.
I got one at the end of 2023 when HD had them for $550 and thought it was a pretty good deal.
This is a great price.
I haven't used it all that much but it is really smooth once you do a few adjustments.
There's a couple of good YT videos on getting it setup.

It depends on whether space is a consideration. For me, that was a worthwhile cost difference.

I read some comments on other websites stating that people seem to always recommend 12" miter saws, but the average person will really only ever need a 10" with a slider, aside from maybe <5% of the time. Is that true? They also said 10"ers have the added benefits of being cheaper, lighter, less bulky, and have less expensive blades. I'm thinking I was given the impression that anything less than 12 is a waste of time, but in reality, for my use case, a 10 slider with a good blade will be the better option. Am I thinking about this wrong?

Now showing up as $50 off, so $599. Dead in the water if this is true for others. Too bad, I have been eying this for a long time.

Deal is still good. Proceed to check out. You'll see.

Thanks so much. I literally almost bought this at Lowes about 3 weeks ago. I held off because I know this saw goes on sale.

No.

I actually purchased my 1st non-zombie brand (Dewalt, Makita, etc) from Harbor Freight like a month ago. Hercules 12" sliding dual bevel miter saw. It puts in some work.

I was on the fence about it myself but it's been great.

Lowe's refused as well. They would only match the price sans coupon.

I don't think your thinking is wrong at all. The larger blade is more of a benefit when doing compound miter cuts on stuff like crown molding. I've never done crown and probably never will. I guess if you are cutting a lot of 4x4 - 4x8 dimensional lumber the 12" is a better choice. Looking at the Bosch specs the 12" max depth of cut is 3 1/2" at zero-bevel/zero-miter, the 10" Bosch max depth is 3 1/8", so it can't cut all the way through a 4x4 post in one slice, but you can always flip the board and finish your cut. The other benefit of the 10" saws are that the blades are a little less expensive and some might work in your table saw, though usually the blade for a miter saw has different tooth geometry. In the case of the Bosch the difference in weight of the 10" and 12" is only 1 pound. I'd probably go 12" again since that'd prevent me from ever wishing I hadn't bought a 10" saw (FOMO). I have yet to use mine enough to need to replace a blade, so the cost of blades is pretty negligible in my use. I'm using mine primarily for breaking down lumber to manageable sizes. 98% of the time a 10" sliding saw would be plenty. Any crosscuts that need accuracy I make on a table saw with a sled or miter gauge, but I love having a miter saw to make rough cuts on longer boards or just to work with dimensional lumber.
