The 255 & 265 are the go to Garmin's I recommend (runners, cyclists, triathletes)
The 255 Music is $300 (and comes in black)
The 265 is always $360 on Garmin with the 20% off Optimity discount. It's essentially a 255 Music but with an OLED screen (and Training Readiness metric).

The new 165 also has an OLED screen but is geared exclusively to runners, so it's missing a lot of features from the 255/265 (ie. no multisport mode, no power meter support, etc.). Watch a DCRainMaker or DesFit review for further break down.

I had the 255 Music before returning for a 265. They've both continued to get software updates adding some new metrics that aren't covered in the original reviews and are great multisport watches alongside the more premium 955/965; the days of needing a Fenix/Epix for triathlons are over. Obviously buy from REI since they have a 90 day return policy for members.
Download the app, do a couple surveys, redeem for 20% off at Garmin for certain watches or their Index scale. Similar promo codes are thru a lot of insurances.

I've had the 245 music for almost 5 years now and absolutely love it. I considered upgrading a few times to either the newer 255 or 265 or even a premium watch, but with the 245 usually only getting charged every 10+ days, I can't justify it yet.

If you have been in the market for a smartwatch, I highly recommend this line.
Just depends on what you want to use the watch for. For example the 245 didn't support open water swimming and needed a workaround for power meters (at least in the past). The 255 is a full multisports watch that just lacks a couple of the premium features of the 9xx line.

Works fine as sleep/activity tracker. Not so convenient as a general purpose smart watch. Took quite a bit various button clicks to reach common tasks like Garmin pay or timer. And the buttons are not customizable which is a big surprise to me.

How is this compared to Galaxy 6 classic? Love my g6 but am thinking of switching to Garmin due to charging g6 every other day.
Does it have any golf features?

255 is great! No wifi connection is a plus to me for privacy concerns and I never run without my phone. It has all other functionalities. The battery life is good enough; I barely need to charge the phone during showers for about once a week. The trade-off in terms of the more compact and comfortable form factor is worth it compared to 2X Solar's infinite battery life (assuming that one goes outside under direct sun light several hours a day). I found the tracking app easier to use than the apple health. And Garmin Connect integrates well with other ecosystems such as Runkeeper.

I got the 255 music edition for $300. It has 4GB of storage to load up audio content and I can directly connect my bluetooth headphones to the watch. No more needing to bring my phone with me on runs. I much prefer this to an Apple watch or Galaxy watch for my use cases.

It takes some time to get used to all the buttons (no touch screen). Battery life is probably around 4-5 days exercising & listening to bluetooth audio 1-2 hours per day. It is more comfortable than I expected. The Garmin connect app to view all the data is easy to navigate too.
