Great specs, but no USB4 is a big thumbs down on $1k plus laptop. So no way to use a high bandwidth USB4/Thunderbolt dock or other high bandwidth peripherals.

Not sure why HP does this. I recently bought a refurb Pavillion Plus from Microcenter for a little over $400 (7840U, same OLED display, 16GB, 1TB), and it didn't come with a USB4 as well. For $400 or $699 on sale at Costco, I get it, but really no excuse not to include at least one USB4 port on a $1k+ laptop in 2024.

HP only offers USB4, even Thunderbolt 3 certification for their higher end Business and workstation laptops for AMD Platforms. Back in 2022, Lenovo and Dell were offering USB4 with AMD based gaming laptops, Legion 5 Pro 6000H and Dell G15 and Alienware M series with RTX 3060 and over, all had USB4, enabled via bios update later. But they've also stopped that as well.
Currently if you want USB4 in Consumer based laptops for AMD, Asus and Acer are your best bait.

Yeah, it is unfortunate that manufacturers are still cutting corners in AMD laptops. How about Lenovo AMD laptops? Some of them include USB4, right?

Edit: I meant to say any of the current Lenovo laptops, ThinkPads included.

ThinkPad T and P series are having theem since 2022. In 2024, they have included USB4 in IdeaPad Pro 5 and Yoga Pro 7 AMD versions, with Ryzen 8000 series.

Forgot to mention, among the Lenvo's AMD based gaming lineup, only thhe Lenovo Legion Slim 7 2023 version (Legion Slim 7 16APH8) has one USB4 40 Gbps port.

Sadly, that model was available in Lenovo US for a very limited time and now nowhere to be seen.

Small battery kills it for me. Otherwise nice laptop. I have an HP Pavilion plus with the 7840U Ryzen 7, the 120H OLED display and a bigger 4 cell 68Wh battery. Love the display and the laptop overall is very snappy. Wouldn't mind the faster processor and the 360 hinge but not at the cost of a smaller battery.
