    Mac's are overpriced, even for Apple fans. I have an iPhone, AirPods, Apple Watch and an iPad but Macbook prices are ridiculous. You could build a high end PC for what a Macbook with 16gb RAM costs.

    Sure but it won't be as thin, light, or have battery life anywhere near Apple Silicon. These comparisons are silly. The SoC design of Apple Silicon has also changed my feelings about RAM. I went from an Intel Macbook with 16GB of RAM to an Apple Silicon Macbook with 8GB of RAM and it's still way more powerful with half the RAM. I never have performance issues with it. It also never gets hot, fans almost never come on, and the battery lasts longer than any laptop I've ever owned.

    The RAM is a real concern if you're buying professional hardware, and still at this price I'd want 16GB, but you should really take a look at ultrabook prices. They're in this range already, usually with worse screens or worse speakers, and worse battery life. The keyboard and trackpad on Macbooks are fantastic as well. Besides, a big desktop is always cheaper just like the ITX tax for when you want to build a small form-factor PC instead.

I went from an M1 MacBook Pro to an M3 (base model each) for about $750 net buying on sale. Last time I had a windows laptop, got sick of it and went back to MacOS was a 60% depreciation after only 6 months usage!

    My 2017 thinkpad Carbon runs circle around any macbook but only gets $50 in BB but the M1 air get 475.. Go figure..
