I would be curious how this compares to the eBags mother lode backpack, which I largely consider one of the greatest.

I have both, and they are quite similar in quality and feel. Hard to beat for a "carry-on on your back" at this price.

I upgraded to something that has a structured back foam and better shoulder straps (an Osprey) for all-day carry, but if you only need to carry it on your back for short stints at the airport, metro, etc, these are more than adequate.

As usual, the product page lists this as under-seat capable, but in general, this is not under-seat compatible at all.

I thought that too until I noticed it doesn't have all the little compartments that made the ebag stand out

The description and reviews mention the laptop section, but it sure isn't pictured.

I have both, it's pretty similar. The build quality of the mother lode is definitely better, but this one is only $16.

I have the ebags motherlode, but seems very heavy to me. Am I the only one to think that?
