And adjusting for inflation its 40% cheaper than when the 14-inch MBP was introduced in 2020.

I am probably returning the m5 once I receive it.
I did the same and felt like it is a great deal. But it looks like the space black(the only variant on deal) is considered inferior to silver and also m5 chip is much worse than m4 pro. I really do not mind about the color. But, I regret not pulling the trigger when bestbuy did a deal on m4 pro on Saturday for just a hundred more.

Still, if you really do need the power or thunderbolt5 probably a smart choice, might be able to get some deals in the new years. The m5 was the right fit for me, and I doubt we'll see this config get a better price even through the end of next year.
