A "Hey I just watched a movie" thread

12,438 1,117 April 23, 2010 at 06:49 PM
One of the other forums I go to has one of these threads and I've been turned on to some good movies that other regulars just watched. I was kind of surprised not to see a similar thread here (at least not that I could find.) Big Grin

I just rewatched "Kinamand" - a cute drama about a Danish plumber who gets involved in an arranged marriage with a Chinese illegal. Good stuff (Netflix instant.)

So what have you folks watched recently?

Caught most of D.O.A. [mrskin.com] last night as I drifted off to sleep. I think it must be based on a video game. But you *almost* get to see Jaime Pressley's boobs, and I found Sarah Carter [imdb.com] so I have a new celebrity love. Faint Plus there are plenty of bikini scenes and some over-the-top fights (the whole plot is centered around a Mortal Kombat-style fighting competition). Also, Eric Roberts! woot

40 Pounds of Trouble from 1962. Great, fun, family movie that was partially filmed inside Disneyland (one of my favorite places on Earth). and features Tony Curtis and Phil Silvers. Watched it the other night, and loved it, but I'm a huge Tony Curtis fan.

Only thing bad about the libraries here is that the DVDs can be so scratched up that they won't play. I still love my libraries, I borrow a lot more DVDs than books. LMAO
Online get on the list early for new materials then they wont be scratched. If they are, a bit of toothpaste will actually make them play.

Yeah, it's a video game where scantily clad women fight.

The Human Stain - Best performance by Nic Kidman I've ever seen but the movie winds you up for some great secret and completely fails to deliver.

But the counter-moves and destruction/scene-changes did add a nice spin to the fighting genre. Boobies don't bounce like that in nature, though.

Not really a movie, but it watched like one..."Johnny Carson: King of Late Night" on PBS. Really well done. 4.5

i dvr'd this when it premiered...i was born in 84, so i never got to really experience carson in the 70's when he was really good...i really enjoyed this- it almost boggles my mind that the show was LIVE and on til 1am(til like 1983)

i quit cigarettes for the 3rd time april 17th..i like the one part where the guy is like "he really convinced himself he wouldn't be affected from smoking"...thats kinda how i use to be...i use to go running 3-4 miles then smoke a cigarette like i'm all badass etc

anyways. guess i was excited that someone else watched this

I went and saw The Avengers today (not 3D). I think I'd go 7.5/10, pretty decent movie.

Cloverfield - Always hear about it never seen it. Unwatchable. I'm so tired of these shaky handy cam movies that get by on hype.

Angel - She dreams of being a famous writer, becomes one and pursues the man of her dreams. Early 1800's England type of thing with horrid CGI. Terrible.

So it's back to watching Bewitched for the rest of the weekend.

I still haven't gotten around to seeing Zack and Miri, and I didn't enjoy what I watched of Superman Returns. He certainly looks like a Superman.
Totally off topic but we dvrd ZnM I was looking forward to watching it and found it unwatchable because of all the *bleeping* bleeps! They even fuzzed out a word! So have to dvr it from hbo or rent it to appreciate the use of gratuitous profanity that seems to be an intregal part of the dialogue....

Most everything is reruns lately, so I thought of this movie from this thread and saw it. Definitely better than I expected. (not that I expected much at all.) Not high-brow or anything, but it does have style.

I laughed when watching it because I thought, "If someone had told me Kevin Nash was in this, I would have watched it sooner!" Scantily-clad women everywhere, but it was more entertaining seeing one of my fave pro wrestlers in it. laugh out loud
