So, the below is what I have worked up so far. This is a work in progress and now I am looking for corrections/input/suggestions.

For example, what other information is wanted or what information included below is not wanted.

FAQ section (vers. 2017.07.26):

Q. (OD/OM) Do you have to recycle or make a qualified purchase first?

A. It does not matter.

Q. Where can I get used ink/toner cartridges?

A. Family and friends, neighbors, thift shops, garage/rummage sales, and of course like everything else, eBay.

Q. If I purchase an item with Rewards will that purchase count toward my purchase requirement for recycling?

A. No. By the extent the purchase is paid for with Rewards, it will not count as a qualifying purchase for the purpose of the recycling purchase requirement.

Q. (Staples) Is there any way to have the opportunity to qualify to recycle 20 carts per month without making $1000 or more in qualified purchases?

A. There are two other options if you want the opportunity to qualify to recycle 20 carts per month but do not want to make the $1000 or more in qualified purchases to reach Premier:With either option, you are still required to have spent at least $30 on ink and/or toner in the past 180 day to qualify to recycle.

This has been going on for months near me. Depends which location for CO. Diff accounts will show the old deal or new deal based on zip code. You could just go to the diff stores based on which deal you like better regardless of what your maxperks says, not sure if that is still the case
You are in one of the "selected areas only" regions, while for CA, it seems to cover everyone, and going to different stores in different zip codes will not make a difference.

I guess we can choose to recycle when they have fixed amount rewards in store to increase the payout, but they are not as common as online deals.

I wonder what changes OD will have in about 10 days.

I'm in CA, anyone know what happens to the recycling credit that was done before June? Does it still stay in the account and get unlocked when qual. purchases are made or does it disappear.

Was the OfficeMax change a stealth move? Two day notice seems incredibly lame. I had over $100 ink recycle worth of credit I had not unlocked yet.

Someone posted in the Lounge that OD is now allowing only 5 ink cartridges to be recycled starting July 2013. Real or fake story?

If nothing else I have to give credit to OD to at least make whatever changes at the end of a quarter. Think of all the headaches CSR at Staples and OM had to deal with programs changing mid month.

Here is the new Office Depot ink recycle program
Looks like the major change is you have to spend $10 each month.
Each cartridge is 200 points and you can turn in 10 a month. (2000 Points) with a 1000 points equaling a $10.

Some other changes impacting recycling:
--- rewards paid monthly instead of quarterly
--- rewards expire after 60 days instead of 90 days

As noted, rewards are paid in increments of 1000 points / $10 and both recycling and purchase rewards count toward the 1000 pt / $10 increments.

As for point carryover from month to month, its sort of similar in that points carryover from month to month but do not carryover beyond quarters end.

Wow, that's beyond horrible. I hope they somehow use OM's program instead after the merger (wishful thinking, I know). Oh well, can't fault them for tidying up their program to weed out the leechers but I'll make sure I leech what I can before the changes go into effect.

Why is the program so horrible?
We still get $20 a month. They drop the spending from $60 a quarter to $30 a quarter that needs to be made by $10 a month.
Rewards are paid montly instead of quarterly.
The only change I see that is worse is only 2 months to use the rewards instead of 3.
Am I missing something? I have no problems with the new reward program.

You only have 12 more days to leech the old system..

I think it is ok as well. I have to go there to recycle the carts anyway so spending $10 while I am there and probably the previous $20 of ink credit will be easy enough. Way better than forcing me to buy ink I don't need/want.
