craigslist... nope didn't finish with them. posted again. again post didn't show up on the page. ugh. if their system is flagging your post for some reason (picture, text, whatever), I wish they'd just send you an auto-email telling you that, so you can correct whatever is tripping up their system. it's frustrating to put in all that effort and have it go into some technology blackhole and not manage to sell whatever you are trying to sell. i'm truly really frustrated with craigslist.

weighed at doc office yesterday after 3.5 months. i've gained one pound from last weigh-in.
i was so disappointed, but doc was very happy. he said atleast you've managed to stop the trend of weight gain after the accident. gotta love an optimistic physician, right?

I had a massage last night. Ooooo that was nice. Do any of you remember back to two or three years ago there was an Herbal Essence deal -- buy 2 or 4 bottles, send the form in and get a pretty large gift certificate for a spa? I still have a couple left. I had $300 worth, I think. The little spa near me couldn't get them all in before the cut off, so she submitted to get paid and gave me gift certificates. And then I forgot I had still had 2 or 3 left -- or I would think about it at the wrong time to call. Then it had been so long, I kind of felt stupid and I got a card from her saying, "hey, it's been a long time did you forget you still have massages".

i gave him the business after he came right away to get the hot water started again on monday and b/c last yr he helped bff's dh move his store. so imo he is a good guy and he is knowledgeable. but since he was here on monday, you would think he could give me some idea how much changing the water heater out was going to cost when i asked him on the phone yesterday. he does this for a living so he should have some idea. i would have had him do some work last yr but he wouldn't give me an estimate for a tankless water heater. last nite i told bff that he is good for emergencies but if he can't tell me approx how much work is going to cost, i can't have him do optional stuff.
basement is going to be a big project. since the stuff is out of the basement, i want to repaint the floor. the contractor did not do a good job rinsing the floor after acid washing it (cuz he just had to do things his way. long and somewhat interesting story i may tell one day) and i think that's why little spots of paint popped off, esp in the area i want to use for storage.
we are also going thru all the boxes and getting rid of stuff we just shoved in there and ignored for yrs.

gg- gt is right. one pound is nothing. most people probably go up and down more than that every day. i know i go up about 3 lbs every day. so i always weigh in the morning b4 i eat anything.

and ST, i definitely agree that the group plays a big role - it's a constant source of encouragment, mindfulness and accountability. the first two are often the biggest battle. we were never really unhealthy eaters, but i have to say because of the diet group, over the last 3-4 months we have become significantly healthier eaters.
i have just become far more conscious of where I/we are consuming sugars, and also portion sizes. plus we've really been including even more veggies into our diet (if such a thing was possible). and it has made a big difference for us in energy levels etc.
so thank you ST and GT for encouraging me to join the group, and thank you to all group members for always encouraging me to do better. you guys are so special.

and since i was buying multiple things, i asked to negotiate shipping prices etc. so he did. and gave me a deal.
the comforters and featherbed had a little bit of a dusty hand smear on one edge - i didn't mind cos i wasn't using them without dry cleaning anyways - but that's totally understandable for white bedding that's been in warehouses etc.

And FYI - you can machine wash a wool coat too. Just DON'T put it in the dryer.

when i lived in new york (city), i'd bought this gorgeous smoky grey merino wool sweater with charcoal grey double stripes from henri bendel. it fit stunningly, was soft and light but super warm. i could dress it up or down. and best of all i'd found it on an end of season sale, so at a great price. i treasured that sweater and got so many compliments on it.
then one day i wore it and suddenly it rained - cold horrible freezing rain. and my sweater got that horrible bitter wet wool smell. and figuring it was already wet, i washed it in the washer. in cold water but with detergent. then dried flat. my sweater turned into this shrunken, cropped, fuzzy thing. it looked like a fuzzy mohair sweater for a 5 year old.
i have never again dared to wash wool of any kind - cashmere, merino or lambswool.
my wool coats are all lined and clearly specify dry cleaning, so i don't dare on that count, either. i really don't like having my clothes dry cleaned cos the chemicals are so toxic, and so harsh on skin. but there are no green cleaners near me. and when i was working and wearing suits every day, i had no choice but to dry clean the suits, silk blouses, winter scarves and coats and such. once i return to work, i'll have to do that again.
but for now, my trusty yoga pants (thank you c9!) and assortment of tops from banana republic outlets are keeping me dressed for public outings. indoors i'm in the teeniest of short shorts i can find and the lightest of tank tops or wide necked tees, since fabric touching me is very painful.
