Has anyone dealt with Staples rewards Theft??

205 28 July 17, 2010 at 12:02 PM in Question
Ok, so I have been turning in ink cartridges to staples for a while now, and have received rewards since February I believe, and I have never been able to use them except one. I usually waited til the last day before they expired and then they wouldnt work when using them online or in store they wouldnt work, so i just figured i missed my chance, and would try again next month (i know, not the smartest approach, but thats a different issue).

Anyway, since I kept having non-stop problems with my rewards, I just logged onto my account to check my status on rewards.. Well apparently, EVERY single one of my rewards was redeemed in New York by somebody buying external hard drives both times. One was in Staten Island and the other in Selden... The problem here is that I am from Indiana, and have never been to New York in my life.. Now I dont know if 'New York' shows up if you buy online, or if someone guessed my rewards account number, because I keep my computer clean and scan it constantly for everything, and have never posted any information anywhere.. I cant call the rewards people til Monday to figure this out.. Do you think they will credit me with any of these rewards, or am I screwed?

So has anyone else had this happen, or did i win the unlucky lottery again? lol

I lost 4 staples rewards.
I found that if you enter the code in SDER CLUB, it will be lost in 1 days.
So be careful

Can you elaborate little more... So, 4 of your rewards checks were used by other people. In NY, as well?

Since I dont buy coupons, what's the deal with "entering the code in SDer Club"? Unless they can "trace" the codes that they are selling, I dont see how they can extract your rewards number.

I found that theft is not ccccpn or e-junkie.
STAPLES INC is suffering huge financial problem now.(see the stock)
Staples has used computer to sort out many accounts that have been used coupon before.
And staples will help you to "use" the reward.
They will show the system you have bought something. Most purchase will show in NEW YORK OR NJ. But when you wait for a few days, the purchase DID NOT show what they buy at that day.
So I can conclude that the technican in staples is trying to create a blacklist.
USE YOUR COUPON NOW!!!!! I HAVE LOST AT LEAST 10 STAPLES REWARD ALREADY.

SOME CLUE WHY I CONCLUDE THIS:
1 Staples stock price is droping.
2 They reducee Cartiage price from 3 to 2
3 Many store start clear everything, especially technology(Printer is clear anywhere).( I buy a brand new HL-3040 CN for only 22 bucks)
4 Economy recession.
5 More and more stores start reject coupon. Some stores even reject use ink reward.
6 They reduce the expiration date for the reward.
7 The employee of staples look unhappy.
8 They try to hire new employee. Especially technician.
9 I have use 200 staples reward this year. So I am very familiar for the store.
10 Huge amount recycle in JUNE!

I had the same thing happen but I do have some answers. The rewards programs is setup to use your rewards number at the end of the rewards cert you get in the email. this means that the thief only needs to get the numbers in the beginning. the next thing is that they are doing is selling them on ebay. there is one user selling piles of these in different names USER obezor . The system is not very good in keeping them from being taken with the way the numbers are generated. They will give you credit but you have to open another account very time. I just did this today. I first thought that it's related to my gmail account but then I found out more answers on how they do it. I have contacted Staples and told him the sellers that are selling these on ebay. The thing to remember. Use them right away and don't let them build up. I know this sucks because your like me save them up but it's not the hassle of getting them back when they are stolen. A simple solution is to provide your card when you use the rewards with your name on it. If it does not match they take the rewards. Officemax asks for your drivers lic to redeem

Just checked the auctions by obezor. Son of b! Mad Either that's Jaxxboss' store front or he is clearly printing other people's rewards. Based on his history, he's been selling these for a while now.

I am going to report all his auctions to eBay with a link to Staples Rewards side stating that they can't be sold or transferred. I doubt that they'll do anything though, since they are getting a nice return from fees.

You think that is bad, check out the dudes feedback as a buyer. He either buys private items or .01-.06 cent items. So what he and a team are doing is feedback bumping, then if you check those peoples names, they get slammed with negatives for not sending people big ticket items.

Quite a scheme going on. Everyone should report him on feedback bumping. eBay will actually suspend his account for that.

Edit: This is unreal, looking through pages and pages of his feedback as a buyer should be sending out red flags to eBay. He has left 407 positive feedback with not a single purchase over 10 cents!!!! Wow.

Double edit: I actually found this dudes complete address in NY, home phone number and profile pic. He works in the computer industry........He definitely looks like the type who would be involved in international espionage. I think I would get in trouble for posting the specifics here though 0.0
