OCD Me!

Time to 'fess up...

We all have strange habits/superstitions/compulsions. Give it up--let's hear yours.

Here are a couple of mine. I have a strange distaste for odd numbers. If I can control something and I have a choice between even or odd--for example, my home theater receiver volume displays in digits--I will always choose an even number.

I also "write" phrases with my finger on any surface (the arm of my chair, the car door, my thigh) that I hear on the television, radio, etc. I alternate between cursive and print, and sometimes I try to keep up with whomever I'm copying. For example, if the news is on and the anchor says "a shocking double murder in the District this evening," I will be scribbling this phrase on the couch cushion to my right.

I've also practiced wiping my butt with my left hand in case my right hand gets cut off or mangled in some horrible accident.

Your turn.

But apparently "i" instead of "I" doesn't bother you?
basically, i think capitalization is the least important facet of english for comprehension. i used to post a bunch on another forum, and similar to here, i was wordy. i found i could type a lot faster if i didn't worry about capitalization, and everyone could always understand what i was saying, so i stuck with it. of course, i do capitalize words if it would affect comprehension.

the fun bit is i use proper capitalization everywhere else, including texts and IM.

I know I probably have more than I realize, but one thing for sure is how the eggs come out of the carton...equal number of eggs from each side working your way towards the middle. I don't like grabbing a carton only to find all the eggs on one end and watching in nearly topple on to the floor.

My toothbrush needs to hang over the side of the sink so that none of the portion that actually goes into my mouth is touching any surface...

I have never screwed up a travel reservation - like wrong days or wrong city or wrong number of nights...but I check 200 times before confirming then re-check after conformation like I probably screwed it up.

One of my old OCDs has spawned a new OCD recently....

I have always been pretty OCD about the brand of paper towels I buy. I have to have Bounty. Recently the fine folks at Bounty have changed the embossed print on their product. Which at first was a tad bit annoying as they ruined the perfect pattern they had. Low and behold they are now embossing the word "Bounty" on the paper towels. Our paper towel holder holds the roll vertically so now I have to be sure to put it on the holder "right side up" so that the logos are readable.

Viva has paper towels without print of any kind on them. They're also better more absorbent than Bounty towels. I use the select a size ones as for most jobs around the kitchen you don't need a full sheet.

I can't stand select a size. Neither can the BF. They did their proportions all wrong. With most brands it isn't quite half a sheet but three pieces is more than a full size sheet would have been. Drives me bonkers.

Yeah, I can see how that would be a problem. Still the Viva regular type has a no print version too. Can't stand having print on paper towels, it bugs me, I tried Viva years ago when one day the local grocery store didn't have the no print version of Bounty on hand, and I liked the Viva better.

Decided that OCD in the Lounge will never really die...

When you come across a list on the interwebs and they have decided for some brilliant reason to list the information in the dreaded "slideshow presentation" but some genius has made it so you cannot both read the caption and click on the net slide button without either scrolling or reducing your screen size to 75%.

Shocking That's just weird. Is the character odd and quirky or something and maybe that's why they did it?

I never get why people always says there's some huge debate about how to hang toilet paper. Flap facing forward vs flap facing the wrong way. I've never ever heard or seen anyone ever have the flap facing the back. I don't even understand the point of why that would be a good idea. That'd be like hanging the mirror on the back of the medicine cabinet door as opposed to the front. Makes no sense.

Sometimes we put the toilet paper that way because the baby instinctively is drawn to the toilet paper and puts her hand on the roll and pulls down. If the roll were placed in the proper direction this would result in a quickly unrolled toilet paper roll. In the incorrect direction it only results in a spinning full roll of toilet paper...

Scratchchin You know, when I typed that, I tried to think of any reason that would make sense and wondered if someone could tell me one...and I admit, in that case, it does make sense.

I was going to add that cat owners tend to put the rolls on reversed so the cats don't unroll them. bulb
