i can't bring myself to watch this season. it doesn't seem nearly as compelling as when i was reading, and it feels like so much is missing (other than the ridiculous amount of time spent describing wardrobe and food; i don't miss that from the books).

i have all four episodes from this season, but have only watched the first; catching up on 30 Rock seems more entertaining whenever i sit down to watch something. probably doesn't help that i know how it all works out.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. This season seems pretty good so far. Maybe not quite as good as last year, but pretty close.

i just think it's the second season malaise. the first season was cool because they were actually trying to bring it to the screen and the novelty of seeing the characters on screen was worth something. now that i've gone a few months without seeing it and realized i don't really miss it, i'm finding it hard to get excited about watching new episodes.

i can't really find real flaw in the writing; my main complaints are that it's missing the depth of the books (which can be said about nearly every movie based on books/a book) and it's being over-sexualized (which is to be expected from HBO). this is why i try to see the movies before reading the books most of the time; i can usually still enjoy the book after seeing the movie, but the reverse normally isn't true.

Just like when I read the book (The Game of Thrones) years ago when I was in college, the death of Eddard Stark really affected me. I was angry and disappointed. I almost felt like not reading anymore. I've talked to other ppl who watched the show and many felt the same. Perhaps that's what you're feeling?

For me, I knew it was coming. So, no surprises for me. It was still sad to see the character die. But, they had to stay faithful to the book since it was a major plot detail.

I think it has too much depth. I mean, that's how the story is, so that's how the story is, but there's so many characters and stuff going on, and it's only an hour show.

nope, i knew it was happening (i've read all the books), so no feelings of anger/disappointment. i didn't even really feel those while reading; it was more disbelief and respect that an author would kill off a character that big that early in the series.

Yeah, I am having difficulty watching this season, too.

Last year I watched the show without having read the books. I loved it, and immediately started reading the books afterward. I'm glad I did because it helped me keep track of all these scruffy looking guys on the show laugh out loud But now I'm sad because I'm just not "feeling it" when watching.

I'm not as excited. The scenes feel too short. I notice some of the changes and I feel awkard about them.

I shouldn't have read the books Frown Maybe not yet at least... I was so looking forward to seeing this season on TV. Maybe next season will be better. Storm of Swords was awesome! Whee

I have to keep watching at least until that little blond brat king gets his comeuppance.

I'm really enjoying the story line as well as getting to see so many places we've been to in Northern Ireland. The little harbor in the most recent couple of episodes is on the north coast. It's a very pretty little spot.

I don't think that'll happen for a long time.

Just like the first season, these past couple of episodes are not too exciting and kinda yawn inducing... It usually pickup during midseason..

Nothing wrong with killing off characters, its a barbaric timeline.. People die vicious deaths for new King to arise.. I still think Joffery got it easy at the end ( if you read the book )..

However they need to start explaining how come the Iron Throne is so damn important.. Cause from the show POV it seems that sitting in the Iron Throne you are still no better then the other rulers of the realm.
