Price matches (e.g., to Sam's Club) are being accepted! *** Update as of 10/28: Some who ordered 16GB have received shipping and tracking information. But other 16GB orders were cancelled.
    Was possible also to place orders for 32GB from NCIX. As of 10/29, seems that maybe only one SDer has received shipping information for 32GB order placed with NCIX on 10/27.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
  • (10/13) HP company store (Palm) sold touchpads only to HP employees for $100 in Sunnyvale, CA. Limited 5 per person [but this is a matter of dispute: an HP employee who belongs to SD says the store did not allow 5]. Had to sign contract saying they won't resell them.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
  • (10/12) HP has replaced the Touchpad product image with the following announcement on the EPP side of the website (the regular website shows "page not found" error as of 10/11).

  • (10/11) Although shopping.hp.com TP pages are dead for those without access to HP EPP (see below), those who do have EPP accounts report that TP pages are still visible to them -- OOS with $499/$549 pricing.
  • (10/11) TouchPads are removed from the HP website. When you click on the following links, screens say, "We're sorry, the page requested was not found". 16GB LINK [hp.com] and 32GB LINK [hp.com]

  • (10/10) OfficeDepot.com went live for less than a minute at 11:41am .
Quote from 10/8 :
  • For HP Academy and HP partner EPP (like US Gov't), the prices are showing $219/$249 when logged in. Log out and the price jumps to $499/$549.
  • HP currently has the 16GB LINK [hp.com] and the 32GB LINK [hp.com] listed as $499 and $549 (still shows OOS).
Quote from 10/7 :

Quote from 10/4 :
  • (through 10/6) Some people were able to place *new orders* to NCIX (if they had the item in their cart previously) and have them processed, price-matched & shipped within 1 day. (Confirmed by myself)
  • Lawson went live briefly, now out of stock. 16GB for $129.99 [bandtcommodities.com]. Orders are getting cancelled and refunded about 15 minutes after it went live.
  • Links are now dead, but pcRUSH.com had non-firesale prices: 16GB for $228.35 [pcrush.com] and 32GB for $258.26 [pcrush.com]. It was possible to apply promo code paypal at checkout for $25 off. Sales tax applies in CA. As of approx. 3 pm ET, "they have about 290 backordered for the 32 and 100 for the 16." Cancellation emails are going out as of 8/5 8:23 AM PST. "Unfortunately demand far exceeded the limited supply of stock on hand. Your order has been canceled due to lack of availability."
Quote from 10/4 :
  • TPs (OOS) have dropped in price at the HP online store, they're now at $219 for 16GB model. [hp.com]/$249 for the 32GB model [hp.com] (was 399$/449$ on 10/2). Both models are OOS.
  • 32GB model at $249 was shown in stock at shopping.HP.com for a short period of time around 3-4am EST 10/3, but everyone who ordered received a notice stating that the order was declined and that they should call a particular number between 10am and 10pm EST.
  • 32GB model at $249 was available again at shopping.HP.com around 5pm EST 10/3. According to sales rep, this was a glitch on the website. No confirmed orders so far.
Rumor only:
(Rumor date - 9/21) TigerDirect supposedly has 2500 more 32GB touchpads waiting to go live shortly in a crap bundle with a 32GB unit/AC Adapter/Belkin case for $199
(Rumor update - 10/3) TigerDirect apparently still has this TP stock ... no telling when they will put it on sale.
(Rumor update - 10/5) TigerDirect apparently still has 2,470 of the 32s just sitting in the warehouses + 330 of the 16s just sitting ...
(Rumor update - 10/7) TigerDirect: Their TPs will eventually be sold in bundles -- only at CompUSA B&M stores - will not be sold online at TD website. Probably another week or two before bundles go on sale at B&M stores. TP bundles will be in all stores to get people in the door for the holiday season. Again, will not be sold online at TD website.

Your order is still confirmed, and we are fulfilling orders daily based on the time the order was received. We expect all orders to ship by October 31st. We will continue to update you of any changes to this date via email until your order ships. We apologize that we cannot give you an exact ship date for your order. Please note that planned ship and delivery dates on the Order Status page are not accurate for TouchPad orders. You will receive a final shipping notification with a tracking number once your order has actually shipped.

If this timeline is not acceptable, please send an email to [email protected] with your instructions for cancellation within a week. Be sure to include your HP order number and the name and ship-to address on the order. Android works great on touchpad, ICS is really coming along nicely. Here is a link that I found helpful. It is for gingerbread, but the same guy has a link for Ice Cream Sandwich install.

I just wanted to say that after 6 months of off and on trying I finally scored a used 32gb for $140 last night. For some reason I've kept this thread as a subscription ever since I started looking. Well the wait is finally over and it was worth it. Loaded up dual boot cm9. Just wanted to say thank you for everyone on this board who for some reason is still viewing and posting on it. I think I can finally delete it now.

What's a good 3rd party charger as I'm sick of HP's dying every other week, then having to wait for a new one. The plug part works fine but the cord they shipped sucks. Any cheap ones that work that people have bought and can recommend?

Just buy a few replacement USB to mico-USB cables. I have a bazillion of them from using Nokia phones and they are GREAT quality, no problems working with the wall charger.

Does HP cover their cables under warranty? Mine is basically toast at this point, keep meaning to call and ask, but just to lazy since I have a few Nokia's to replace it.

What part of the cable is peone to damage? The usb side or the microsusb side? I haven't even used the cable yet. I have been using my TP charger and the BB cable to charge both.
I just bought a dozen HP chargers, does anyone know if they comes with the cable?

Micro side. You have to bend it up to get to charge. This has happened 4 times. I just place a book under it to pry it up a bit. Yes HP will warranty cables but you call in, wait, listen raheem try to tell you in broken english that you don't have phone support, it's a pain. They will overnight you a cable though. My last one went three weeks and it does nothing now. They're total garbage and the $5 they won't for a new one is overpriced.

They should, the second one I purchased did. HP packaging, etc. As long as that's what you purchased, they will have the cables! ...and you'll get a few uses out of them before they're toast.

(short answer)
Yes, assuming Pantech hasn't changed the specs of their PDC-MUHS since they manufactured mine, this is easily the heaviest duty USB cable I've ever seen.

(long answer)
Exact same here. I was burning through those things until I found this usb cable in a hotel box of courtesy phone chargers that worked with the TP, & is about twice the thickness of the HP factory cord that came with the charger- it is super heavy duty. Still going strong. NOw the only problem is I want to buy more for others I've bought TP's for (as I'm certain I'll be good with just one), & there is a sticker on one end that reads "Pantech USB Data Cable, MODEL: PDC-MUHS, MFR: GANA, Supplied by Pantech Korea, Made in China"; and I've found that model number online at a few places.

Of course ~$8 is more expensive than an entire new charger from HP, though I'd still buy some if I was confident they are still the exact same thing as I have. Because the pictures on the retailers' websites look slightly different than mine. The ratio of cord diameter to USB plug width doesn't make the cord look quite as beefy as mine. Not sure if they've changed it, or if it will still be just as heavy duty.

Either way, I'm sure ANYTHING will be better than that dinky cable HP gives you. Probably the worst I've seen.

I've gone thru 3 heavy duty micro-usb cables from monoprice as well as 2 rocketfish cables. All of them busted/loosened up on the micro side.

I finally gave up and just got a used touchstone charger off of amazon ($25). Best $$ well spent.
