I haven't tried one but I hear great things about it Kurips has one. I like that I won't get that crimp at the ends I sometimes get when I use a curling iron. I've read curls stay longer with this too.

remington fat wand? does it work better than the curling iron?
Yes! It's just the learning curve for not getting yourself burned and knowing how to hold the wand and your hair on both sides of your head. I'm now ambidextrous in doing this.

The regular curling irons are more difficult to control IMO. And it can snag hair. The clipless just burns ya Teehee

Hospital bills are a killer. Do you have insurance? We don't, because my DH is self employed & I have several pre-existing conditions. When I had my back surgery, they made us pay $10,000 cash, before they would even allow me to have it done. That only included reserving the surgical room, recovery & one night's hospital stay. It didn't include anything else. When I checked out, the nurse said they had never seen anyone allowed to go home less than 3 days after having my surgery. I told them when you're paying cash, you don't have a choice. After paying all the other bills, we didn't have an extra $10,000 to $20,000 to sleep in their bed. It's ridiculous. One hospital stay can cause you to go broke. Sorry, rant over. Blush

Wow - I am sorry that you got stuck in a situation like that! Yeah - it was $10k for JUST the room for two nights at the hospital. UGH. I am fortunate and do have insurance, but we're at about $2k right now and climbing, I'm just trying to get this paid off as quick as I can before I tackle the $7 - 8k for dental work. BROKEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Working just to be broke laugh out loudI've actually been doing pretty well selling a few things on the side here and there on ebay. Hopefully that keeps up, at least it's a little extra. I have been selling my GWP's to offset the cost of the original purchases as well. I think it just makes me feel better laugh out loud

Although, now I kind of feel bad for bitching about it laugh out loud I didn't have to fork over $10k to get in to the hospital. Frown hug
Have you guys thought of offshore medical procedures?
It is usually offered with some travel package too -You not only save money, you get to see a new country too and get better service than you would get in here for that much money.

Those are offered in various countries and those hospitals are of international standards and so are their doctors.

GH, I do not know about your condition but if you can fly you should consider that option.
Kate, you can may be take a vacay with you baby and hubby and come back in that money with your procedure done. I am sure you can fly with your dental problems laugh out loud and you can do eBay from anywhere if you do not want a break there Wink

... also, when ur trying to learn, not only is it important to use the glove, WEAR A T-SHIRT or something that does NOT expose your shoulders. i have learned from my mistake last year... the day before my friend's wedding (actually when i was getting ready for rehearsal lunch) i put on a spaghetti strap dress and then decided to curl my hair (with herstyler). at some point, i accidentally burned my shoulder, leaving a HUGE burn mark on my shoulder. you can see it in all the wedding photos i was in (i covered it with glamoflauge but it wasn't enough Frown ). let me see if i can post an example. (luckily we put on a pashmina thing so it covered it during the ceremony - should have worn the pashmina all day!)

haha moral of the story - wear a shirt that covers your shoulders.

I can't even imagine how hard it would be to fork over so much money for necessary procedures!

I have until Monday to finish my paper, and I'm nearly halfway done... yet I have NO motivation to go further. I just want to be on summer break already.

It's funny, I used to hate science/chem when I was in HS (years ago!).
But after college, I decided to get another degree so I took these courses and turns out, I kinda love chemistry and science. Glasses2

I got a catalog from JCP. They have some really cute clothes. Now, I'm tempted to check out their site. I'm definitely going to get the bathing suit Tizzy recommended, if they still have it. I must stop shopping, but I can't seem to. EEK!

Don't feel bad. hug I would be upset, if I had that facing me too. Yay, for your eBay success. woot

Watch out for the nubras. I usually wear a 32C/34B, but I am a bigger 32C/34B. I got the nubra in C because 32C is my usually size (also from TJ Maxx for $15). However, when I put it on, it was really big and kept falling off. I think I would have sized down. Then I realized that since it's by cup size, the 32C, 34C and 36C bra people would all be buying the same bras, and my 36C friend is a lot bigger than I am. I'm going to have to throw out my nubra, which is too bad. Just be careful and make sure that you do get the correct size.
Thanks for the warning. I'm a 34DD, so it sounds like a D would work for me. I'll definitely give it a try, if I find a deal.

That's a great idea. I'd definitely consider that, if the circumstances made it possible. I can fly now. At the time, I was put on 2 & 1/2 months of bed rest with steroid therapy before they would even do the surgery. By the time they operated on me, I couldn't even walk a short distance w/o a walker & my DH helping me. There's no way I could have done that then. Under the right circumstances, I wouldn't hesitate.

Fortunately we were saving for a house, so we were able to use that money. Our down payment on the house was less than we wanted to put down, but we were blessed to have the money at all. Between the two, our savings was wiped out & we had to start over. I just feel fortunate that the money was there, when we had to have it.

Psychology... usually life-span development. I'll be a family therapist by trade but I don't mind teaching a class or two on the side. Most of the college kids are really sweet and I'm not much older than them, so it's fun for me. Smilie
