FINALLY, Samsung is offering a Class Action Settlement on a defective capacitor in some TV's. I am sure lots of people in SD community have bought these early LCD/Plasma/DLP model HDTV's from Samsung around 2008. I had "ln52a650a1f" LCD HDTV that died right after 2 year warranty expired. I called Samsung and argued with manger and ended up cussing at him because they wouldn't acknowledge the problem or give any sort of reimbursement. After doing some research, I found out that lots of people are having same problem with Samsung TVs bought around 2008 and the cause was a faulty capacitor bought from Chingmai electronics (basically means Chinese junk

) that's inside these model TV's.
My problem was getting ghost images, dark multiple images that would clear after TV warmed up for 30-45 minutes but it was a pain the "you know where". So, last month I ended up buying LG 3D TV that I absolutely love and vowed to never buy Samsung again

Here is the link that you need to check your model and take appropriate action:

NO SAMSUNG TV's for me again.

I mailed it less than two weeks ago, this was actually a resubmitted claim because I forgot to write down that I trashed the TV curbside.

Correct, I don't think there is any way to currently get proof from the trash guys that they remember picking up my TV from last year.
-Filled out the form,
- Checked A, B, C, said I was going for the $300 reimbursement;
- I wrote when I first experienced the clicking/popping and delayed powering up, told them when I left it for curbside pickup,
- Included a copy of the invoice,
- I also wrote the transaction ID from when I contacted SEA.
Good luck with your claim!

You can try your luck to say you just heard of this settlement and the problem just started and see if they will do the repair for you.
Capacitors are cheap!
hpm.
I gave them my serial # even though i toss it (cough, cough)
I sent in for the $300 check.
Today I got in two separate emails from Samsung. The first was a request for support and repair and the second was for cancellation for the support ticket.
Has this happened to any of you?
