Important Additional Information:
To enter the contest, watch at least three (3) episodes of the show which are broadcast during the entry period.
On each episode of the show broadcast during the entry period, a trivia question will appear onscreen. The trivia questions will change each day, Monday through Friday, during the entry period.
Following each broadcast, go to the entry form and fill in the following required fields:
(1) Correctly answer the trivia question of the day from the episode of the show that was broadcast on the day for which you are entering;
(2) Complete the contest registration form by entering the following information: your first name; last name; email address; home phone number with area code, street address, city, state, zip code, country, date of birth, and verification that you are at least 18 years of age and have read and accept the Official Rules.
NOTE: There are two errors in the entry form. 1) Although Canada is listed as an option in the country field, the Official Rules state that Canadian residents are not eligible to enter. 2) Although the age verification lists 18 as the minimum age to enter, the Official Rules state that all entrants must be at least 21 years of age to enter.
(3) Submit an essay of no more than 2000 characters explaining what a trip to Los Angeles to attend the taping of the show's 1,500th episode would mean to you.
(4) Upload a recent photo of yourself. No other person may appear in the photograph. The photo must be in one of the following formats only: JPEG (including JPEG and JPG but not JPE); GIF; PNG or BMP.
You will be disqualified if you do not fill in all the required fields.
You must enter at least three (3) times during the entry period and correctly answer at least three (3) trivia questions on the entry form to be eligible to win.
The potential contest winner will be chosen based on judging of the essay using the following judging criteria: (i) the entrant's demonstrated need for the prize (33 1/3%); (ii) the inspirational attitude exhibited in the essay (33 1/3%); and (iii) the creativity of the essay (33 1/3%). In the event of a tie, the potential winner will be the person with the highest creativity score. In the event there is still a tie, the potential winner with the highest inspirational attitude score will be the winner.
Entrants must be available for a telephone call from a producer of The Ellen DeGeneres Show in April 2012 on a date to be determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Any eligible entrant who is not available during that time period for a telephone interview will be disqualified.
The winner and guest must be able to travel to Los Angeles, California in May, 2012 but no later than May 24, 2012 (as determined by the sponsor in its sole discretion) to attend a videotaping of the 1,500th episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Any eligible entrant who is not available during that May time period to travel to Los Angeles will be disqualified.
Any guest allowed to accompany the winner to Los Angeles must be at least 18 years of age or, if the guest is a child or ward of the winner, the child or ward must be at least fourteen (14) years old on the date of travel to Los Angeles.
If the winner and guest do not attend the breakfast and the dinner on the date selected by the hotel, the winner and guest will forfeit those portions of the prize.
