Having website connection issues

I'm not sure where to post this question but I seem to be having issues connecting to a certain website on home wifi. It was working fine yesterday then yesterday evening and today it still won't connect. I've tried clearing cookies and cache to no avail. The site is up and running as I'm able to connect on my mobile device when disconnected from wifi. Anyone know what the issue could be?

Try changing the DNS on your router to google 8.8.8.8 or Quad9 (9.9.9.9)

Yes. Not unusual since people use VPNs and other proxies in abusive ways, to get around bans, etc.

I used a vpn and the site came up. When I turn it off it stops working again.
