You think gas is expensive in the US?

Petrol hit a new record high today in the UK of 140 pence per liter. Worked out to gallons and dollars, that's $8.41 per gallon. Faint

The UK has it backwards. You're not putting petroleum in your car as that's the original product as pumped from the ground. Once it's refined, it's gasoline or gas for short.

I thought in London it was in the $13's?

Either way, Americans are buying gas at a bargain price.

Aren't taxes the primary reason for the price disparity?

So... we buy gas in Venezuela... then ship it to England where we sell it at $6.50/g for profit (at the same time undercutting everyone elses prices to ensure it sells)

Of course they are. The government does nothing and gests .12 of every dollar you spend on gas while the oil company does all of the work and gets .06 for every dollar spent on gas. And then they have to pay their own bills which brings them down to 1.5 to 2.0 percent profit margin.

It's a good racket really. I get taxes taken out of my paycheck, and when I go buy gas, 12% of my purchase goes towards taxes on the gas. The oil company gets less than the government, and then pays corporate taxes for providing the gas. Then they pay their employees with what's left over, and their employees' paychecks are taxed. All so we can drive around in our cars which are taxed yearly with license plates that are taxed.

We.....are.....all......Crazy

Now why are those friggin choppers hovering over my house again!!!! Mad

Secret Not everything (or most things for that matter) is a conspiracy. And he was referring to the cost being higher in the UK due to the huge amount of taxes levied on petrol over there.
