Eligibility: Macy's Star Rewards Sweepstakes (the "Sweepstakes") is open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States (and the District of Columbia), Puerto Rico, and Guam who are at least twenty-one (21) years old at the time of entry.
Timing: Sweepstakes begins July 27, 2012 at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time ("ET") and ends on December 31, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. ET ("Promotion Period"). Sponsor's computer is the official time-keeping device for the Sweepstakes. Sweepstakes consists of seventeen (17) grand prize entry periods (each a "Grand Prize Entry Period"), as set forth in chart (see rules).
How to Enter:
a. Apply for a Macy's Card or a Macy's American Express Card (each a "Card"):
During the Promotion Period, visit a Macy's store or macys.com, fill out an application for a new account, and you will receive one (1) entry. You will receive the entry if a decision is made regarding your application during the Promotion Period regardless of whether your application is accepted or declined. You will not receive an entry if a decision cannot be made on your application during the Promotion Period. Opt-Out Mechanism: If you wish to apply for a Card but you do not want to participate in the Sweepstakes, you may request not to be included in the drawings by mailing a 3" x 5" piece of paper, with proper postage, name, address, day and evening phone numbers, and email address to: "Macy's Star Rewards Sweepstakes — Opt-Out Request," Department: 585356, PO Box: 5046, Kalamazoo MI 49003-5046585356.
b. Make a Purchase Using Your Card:
During the Promotion Period, make a purchase using your Card or use the Macy's automatic bill payment system to pay a bill (other than a bill for your Card), and you will automatically receive one (1) entry per purchase using your Card. Other Card transactions such as cash advances or the assessment of finance charges will not result in a Sweepstakes entry. Opt-Out Mechanism: If you wish to make a purchase using your Card or use the automatic bill payment system but you do not want to participate in the Sweepstakes, you may request not to be included in the drawings by mailing a 3" x 5" piece of paper, with proper postage, name, address, day and evening phone numbers, and email address to: "Macy's Star Rewards Sweepstakes — Opt-Out Request," Department: 585356, PO Box: 5046, Kalamazoo MI 49003-5046585356.
c. Free Mail-in Method of Entry:
To enter without making a purchase or applying for a Card, hand print your name, address, day and evening phone numbers, email address, and date of birth on a 3" x 5" piece of paper and mail it in an envelope with proper postage to "Macy's Star Rewards Sweepstakes," Department: 585356, PO Box: 5046, Kalamazoo MI 49003-5046585356. You will receive one (1) entry into the drawings for the applicable Entry Periods. All mail-in entries must be handwritten and must be postmarked and received by the dates listed in Section 3 above to be included in the applicable Entry Period drawings. You may enter as often as you like, but each entry must be mailed separately. Limit: One (1) entry per envelope. All mailed entries become the exclusive property of Sponsor and none will be acknowledged or returned. Proof of sending or submission will not be deemed to be proof of receipt by Sponsor. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible, illegible, misdirected or postage-due entries, all of which will be disqualified.
Prizes: SEVENTEEN (17) GRAND PRIZES (one (1) per Grand Prize Entry Period): $5,000 in Macy's gift cards (winner will receive five (5) Macy's gift cards, each valued at $1,000). Approximate Retail Value ("ARV"): $5,000. Total ARV for Grand Prizes: $85,000. ONE THOUSAND (1,000) FIRST PRIZES (two hundred fifty (250) per First Prize Entry Period): $50 Macy's gift card. ARV: $50. Total ARV for First Prizes: $50,000.
