I have been watching the magmall.com site since you posted that the New Yorker has indeed disappeared off the magmall, com list of available subscriptions, and it has not come back - AT ALL. Frown I am wondering if they ran into fulfillment issues or something. No idea here! I am so sorry to lead you to a dry well, so to speak.

The one thing for which you can be thankful is that you won't have the frustration of super sloth speed -- magmall.com is being "sssslllloooowww" in getting my renewal processed, so I have had 5 weeks without my culture fix! This is HARDSHIP in northern NM... of a soft sort, admittedly. According to the info on their site, my subscription took effect on 06-11-2013 (44 days after my renewal request), but the actual magazine has not found its way to my beaten up mailbox yet - at least not as of today. Of course, I always get them a half week late - it's my "boonies penalty" for breathing clean air (or something). The clean air rationale fails totally right now because the forests are BURNING all around us, and the air is literally hazardous to all variety of living beings... nice, huh?! EEK!

I see, though, that some good deals are showing up, and I do hope you have found one that protects you from full subscription price - or worse, newsstand rates! It would be great if there were a website that compared all the prices (there was one, way back when... I wonder if bestwebbuys.com has a magazines rate comparison?? Might be worth a look!) I hope that the bestwebbuys site will help someone - it rocks for books, music, etc. - and sorry that magmall.com let us all down!

I don't know much about the magazine but as a Slickdealer I can't help but think a one year subscription for $40 is expensive.
I think that the New Yorker, like many of our society's items of redeeming worth, are increasing in cost more rapidly than the rate of inflation simply because much of the population is migrating to visual and aural media, or opting for digital communications to the exclusion of all printed matter. Unfortunately there seems to be a corresponding decline, particularly among the "texting" savvy youth culture, in mastery of the finer points of grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and standard construction of the written language. One can reasonably project a precipitous decline in the quality and quantity of written expression in the coming decades. The absence of publications like the New Yorker would markedly accelerate the process. Aiding in the preservation of language and written expression seems worth a mere forty dollars per year to me. I like to smell the paper and ink when I read, too.

This is a scam. (47 issues for $39.99, 94 issues for $69.99) They charge your credit card and then you get a notice from the New Yorker that you will receive HALF the issues you thought you were getting. Then you have to cancel through the magazine, which they are very nice about but make it clear that the magazine never sells for less than ITS own subscription prices.

This link is to a site where the "best offer" is 69.99 for 1 year --- NOT 2 YEARS.

Thank you for coming back and sharing this deal. Could it be possible it was a different site? Magmall as of 05-12-2013 doesn't seem to be offering The New Yorker.
I checked magmall.com today too and it is not listed. Maybe

It might be a different site. I didn't find it there either. Or maybe they don't handle it any more.

Current NewYorker subscription rate is all the way up to $99.95/year, more than doubling in a couple of years. They have not offered any deals, even after I let the subscription expire. You get the feeling that they have decided to cut their subscriber base. Anyone else have better luck recently?

You won't be able to search for this site, but it still works. I locked in two two-year subscriptions for $53 each. That's 94 issues for $53 -- you will not find a better deal and you don't have to give a cc number. You can have this as a "Bill to." Enjoy

This offer is auto-renew...so folks need to remember to cancel that no matter how they choose to pay. You don't need to wait until the end of the subscription, or until they remind you (and you probably shouldn't). You can contact customer service at The New Yorker any time after you order (once your subscription acct is active). You still receive all the issues you ordered, you're cancelling the auto-renew, not the subscription. Just a heads up on that...

The fine print:
Condé Nast Automatic Renewal Offer
I understand that I will receive uninterrupted service and delivery of The New Yorker, and Condé Nast Traveler if applicable, and that my subscription will be automatically renewed each year at the rate then in effect. I won't be bothered with any renewal notices in the mail; instead, I will receive a clearly marked annual reminder about 60 days before my credit card is charged or a bill is sent. I may cancel at any time during my subscription and receive a full refund on any unmailed copies by calling The New Yorker at 1-800-825-2510 or Condé Nast Traveler at 1-800-777-0700.

Does anyone know if you can add those issues on to existing subscriptions (aka do it twice to get 4 years for $106)?
