UPDATE: Costco has dropped the price even lower to $199.97 at many locations.
Costco has their Snapper 22" lawn mower marked down from $399.99 to $299.97. Model #SPV22725 (Costco item #521325).
Self propelled, rear-wheel-drive, variable speed, walk behind mower with a Briggs & Stratton 725ex series 190cc engine. Made in the USA. Comes with a two year warranty and the first tune-up is included at a local service center.
$100 off Costco's original price seemed pretty good to me, if you're in the market for a decent mower. As with most Costco markdowns, prices may vary from store to store and inventory may be limited. I saw them in stock at the Vista, CA and San Marcos, CA Costcos this week.
Unfortunately, they don't have online inventory, but if you call your local store and give them the Costco item #, they will usually check their inventory for you. (Costco item #521325)
I am in the market for 1, any links for reviews? How does it compare to the Honda which is 399$ at HD and can use 10% coupon to take off another 40$?
TIA
Not sure how they compare and I haven't had much luck finding any reviews. I was sort of hoping we might get someone who knows about mowers to weigh in here.
Bottom line: $100 (25%) off a Costco price combined with their great return policy made this a pretty easy decision for me since I was in the market for a new mower. I had my eye on this mower and almost bought it at full price a month or so back.
It looks like my local Costco is clearing them out (for the season?). The East Vancouver store in Vancouver, WA has them right now for $199.97! I went there today shopping for a new mower and absoultely could not pass up that deal, especially with the free 1st tune-up and the Costco return policy.
I thought maybe the $199.97 price was a mistake, but I just called around and it seems like this is the only store in the area with any left and they must be trying to clear them out. I guess they figure it is the end of lawn mowing season or something.
Geez, $199 for a Snapper is a steal. Mowers are pretty much mowers, and even the Craftsman ones at Sears, the Murray ones at Walmart, and plenty of other brands use Briggs & Stratton engines these days. Snapper is better than most when it comes to quality control though, each mower is individually tested and adjusted to run perfect before it's shipped out.
Anyone who wants a slickdeal price on a mower should definitely buy them off-season. I don't really think June-July is off-season, but maybe it is for Costco. If you want Snapper quality and $199 is in your price range or you need a new mower, this is a great deal. If you want an even lower price, wait until the fall and Lowe's/Home Depot/Sears/etc typically have whatever is left for 75% off or more.

Thanks for the update monkeys_uncle. I checked and this price seems to be available at multiple Costcos in San Diego area also. Carmel Mountain Ranch (CA) had two left in stock and Poway, CA had at least 9 left in stock all at $199.97 this weekend. This seems like a really good deal, probably won't last long at this price.
I've had the sears version front drive rear high wheel 7 torque engine of this mower I've paid $320 for the last 2 seasons on weekly use in thick FL grass and the mower works great. Starts on first pull and eats up brush. Snapper was bought by the company that makes Briggs engines so not the original snapper but still a great mower. Would buy again at 320.
was anyone else able to get it for the 125 price? what is costcos policy on price drops? do we need to rebuy it and return the original one with the reciept? or do they give 14 days like normal companies do? I know they dont do exchanges but not sure on price drops.
I found one in Chicago but they state the price is 299.99 on the shelf? has anyone else had this problem? does it ring out for 199.99?
It will ring for whatever the stated price on the shelf says. Markdowns vary from store to store so it is not consistent, but based on all the other reports, you should check back often if it's convenient, if they don't sell out first, they'll probably keep marking down until they do.
