NYC needs to train its cops better. You flat out shouldnt be allowed to carry unless you have extensive training. Its pure luck that the cops didnt take out several innocent bystanders with their sloppy accuracy.

btw the guy never fired a round at the cops, so im sure all those bystanders are so thankful it took 16 rounds to kill the guy.

I hope all those people sue the shit out of the city and the NYPD

Cops are suppose to put their lives over that of the people they serve, instead they chose to do the opposite...

Heres a video of the event, police are saying that the shots "ricocheted" off of the planters and that its not reaaaaally their fault.

Completely agree. Situations like this is what tasers should be for. Not for subduing the elderly and children as some cops like to believe.

Hmm, if there was only one cop there, and he was limited to 10 rounds because no one needs more than 10 rounds in a magazine, he would have had to reload to get 16 shots off while the guy was that close and pointing a gun at him.

Let's say five guys invade my home. Let's give the benefit of the doubt and say I'm somehow as good of a shot as New York's finest. 16 rounds x 5 means I would need 80 rounds to stop five bad guys. Damn, forget the 10 rounds argument, suddenly my 75-round mags seem inadequate.

More likely the first dead invader convinces the rest to flee, and you'll only need additional rounds if you're intent on executing them.

Who thought up this stupid "you don't need more than 10 rounds" stuff? Even New York's finest needed 16 for one guy at close range who wasn't even shooting back.

LOL wow hes seriously arguing that they needed 16 rounds? even though 9 of those rounds ended up hurting innocent bystanders? Perhaps they needed way less than 16.. perhaps..

Dear god i hope podium CCW owners are not the standard, because you guys have very little regard for other peoples lives. You guys are extremely trigger happy, batman shooting, this shooting, its all about "if i was there with a CCW none of this would have happened because i would have placed a bullet between the targets eyes before they could have blinked", yet in reality you would pull an NYPD and end up harming 10 others, possibly killing them.

At first you're all raging about "perhaps" not needing 16 rounds, then in your second paragraph you go the opposite way and are raging that such a situation requires 16 rounds.

Considering that the NYPD do receive extensive training and refreshers, I think this points out the flaw of those who think we'd all be better off if everyone carried a gun. Imagine the chaos that would ensue if a streetful of average people engaged this gunman. Assuming they even have the same level of accuracy as the NYPD, they'd probably do more harm than good. Not to mention that in the heat of the moment, it may be much harder to figure out who the original criminal even is (or how many there are) once a few people have their weapons drawn.

Since conceal-carry permits have been around for decades, and permitless carry has been around for 100+ years, shirley there are tons of recorded incidents of what you describe.
