Yep - it sucks that they usually MAKE you take a tour first and ask you a million questions.

They should you the locker rooms, gym, racquetball, basketball, pool etc. (Takes usually about 25 minutes if you press the issue).

Then after that they sit you down with a "rep" which is really just a sales person and tries to negotiate until you agree to join.

They are JUST like a used car salesman so be prepared!

It was a very nice gym - I got fed up and just built my own. Got tired of driving 10 minutes there, 10 minutes back and then having to wait for machine between 5-8 pm.

So now I can work out in my basement with 90% of the stuff and in 1/3 the time!
Cool. That was quite informative.. Thanks for educating us about your workout plan.

Now, you do not have to give vital statistics etc. We will contact you, if we need more education.

How about a high res scan?

When I print this, it comes out postage stamp size.

If I blow it up, it's just blurry.

I don't recommend becoming a member of this company. They bought all of the Ballys in our area (Chicagoland), then told me my local club would be kept running as an LA Fitness. About 4 months after I renewed, they closed the club and all other clubs within normal driving distance.. Useless membership at this point (prepaid for a year in advance for the best rate) Pretty rotten.. If you local club used to be a Bally's, dont be surprised if they close it.

No genius, turn off overdraft protection.

It won't authorize anything over your balance.
I'm pretty sure that will get you some insufficient fund charges from your bank. When Wamu was bought out by Chase, they accidentally turned off my wife's overdraft protection and we had to fight like hell to get those insufficient funds charges refunded. They don't just hit you with one fee for one charge that your balance can't cover, either. They may hit you 10 different times that same day as they try to put the charge through. What made it worse, the hundreds of dollars in fees they hit us with brought the balance so low that even the little checks were insufficient and it started snowballing. (it started out with just a large check bouncing).

Or you can just use the free month every single months - and go to 2-3 other gyms and repeat the same process. That way you might only have to pay once or twice a year when you run out of free trials.
your record will be on their nationwide system permanently once you tried their trial or guest promotions. it happened to 24hr fitness. you can only be their guest 1 time in your lifetime. next time you wont be able to take advantage of any free guest entry. you can use that method with other smaller local fitness centers because they dont really have any nationwide data network.

You must be doing something wrong. I get a 4" x 6" printout. Anyhow, attached is a screen capture.

OK, you are right. You have to click on the image and then print from the enlarged display. I was printing from the thumbnail display. Thanks.

Thanks for the info OP but I can't see this being worth the one hour "tour" and high pressure sales pitch with random credit card fees and other crap this company is known for.

Planet Fatness may not be a hardcore gym, but at least they don't play these kinds of games with their members.

This is why you don't pay with checks, have you heard of bill pay?

i hear they closed down quite a few fully functional gyms like the one in schaumburg. why would you buy a customer base and then let them all leave?

what was the point in LA Fitness buying Bally?! they didn't grandfather my contract, i was paying substantially less and they let it expire, i was paying $99 /year, and offered to renew me at $35 /month with a signup fee?!.

not to mention since the takeover, the budgets to my club has been cut back so severe nothing is maintained or cleaned. That combined with all the old faces rushing to the nearest Cardinal fitness or Xsport; I ask again, what was the point in LA fitness buying Bally?!
