This is confirmed by myself to work on the AT&T Galaxy S3 and AT&T Galaxy Note 2 ....and it is reported to work on ALL VARIANTS of GSM.

To unlock your Galaxy S3 OR NOTE 2:
Just dial the following keys *#197328640#
Main Menu > [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [3]Perso SHA256 OFF > (after choosing this option, wait about 30 seconds, then go back one step by pressing the Menu button then select Back, now you are in [6] Network Lock then choose [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ ..... wait for a minute then reboot your phone... enjoy!!!

He also notes that how well it works depends more on the provider than the phone itself unless the phone's supported frequency is different from the provider's frequency, then there could be some issues with how well it works.

Since I switched from Tmobile recently and now on prepaid can I downgrade the OTA update I got from Tmobile and go back to 4.1.1? Has anyone done this or know what steps to take to do this? If anyone can provide a link or site that shows how we can do this that would be great.

all you need to flash is the whole image. no need to flash the modem, etc. I ran into more issues with odin v3.07 vs v3.04, so in case you run into issues, you can try the older version
