This is a fine unit and for the price, there's little to complain about BUT there's no where to store the cable that you use to charge it from the wall so I see it getting lost easily. I have two other jump start units and they both have compensated for that storage. Big deal? Maybe if you've seen my garage... Lol

I got one during the last sale.

Couple of things to note .... learned the "hard way" .... I tried using it and it failed miserably. Dead car was around my house so I jumped it with another car in my driveway. I grumbled about having to return it .... half day later I noticed that there was a switch on the side that needed to be turned!!! DOH!

The instructions suggest that you don't plug it in and walk away from it ... there's a range of time that they suggest that you charge ... VERY inconvenient. That should have been solved with electronics ... IMO ... something that measured reduced charging rate or something....

It's winter ... there are warnings about letting this thing freeze. Not as big a deal here in VA, and won't keep me from storing it in a trunk of a car.

For me, the USB port is not working. Won't charge my phones ...

Lastly, for giggles I turned the built in lights on and left it ... days later they were still going strong!

I may look for a better solution that removes my pet peeves ... but for the price I am not complaining. I've jumped a car (new driver just started) and my lawnmower numerous times.
I wanted to confirm that I have the same issues with this jumper.
1. The USB is useless. Doesnt charge anything!
2. It says to charge the battery every 3 months, well guess what I did, and after a month when I really needed it to help out a friend, it didnt have any charge in it.
3. The cheap plastic clamp on the negative broke the first use.
I got this deal last time it was $30. But my advice is dont get your hopes up. This is a cheap quality jumper. The only good working function is the light.

My two cents on this thing...

Thanks. My harbor freight box has a battery on its last legs and i'm sure this is cheaper then buying a new battery for it. There are plenty to be had around Buffalo, NY.

You'd be surprised. I believe the HF unit uses a UPC type battery. Which can be had for pretty cheap.

Disregard that, just looked up the fm12170e that is in the packs, 50 dollars on ebay... nevermind!

That is what i figured. I might be able to sell my old box since it still works. I hate to loose the nice clamps i put on it but i won't feel bad if the Peak has good clamps.

Instead of buying jump starter, I went with priority start switch. That has proven to be life saver. No cables or batteries to tug along. battery will never drain to begin with!!

FWIW, the model name is very misleading. I have the exact same model from last year (same model number PCK0AZ), and it's called a Peak Jump Starter 450. Meaning it's 450 amps with a peak of 900. Just so you're not expecting something bigger than it really is.

Not say it's not worth it, as it works well for most smaller engines, although for a big V8 with a really dead battery in the middle of winter below zero F, this may not cut it.

Definitely a thumbs up at $30, but it's really not worth the $80 retail.

I am looking for something like this, but with an integrated air compressor, so I will hold out. Thanks OP.
