T-Mobile $5/month 5GB Data Plan for Grandfathered/Classic Users

I think this is meant for people who are still on-contract.

Lets say you have 1 year on your contract (Classic) left. You can use the Bridge-to-value to reduce your bill now and for the remainder of the contract. If you did a full switch to the value plan, you would have to pay the Classic ETF, plus have to sign a new 2-year contract for the Value plan.
After your 1-year Classic plan is up, you could sign up for Value plan. to get the full savings.

i got told same thing. grandfathered plan not eligible. only classic. also told me that when i switch to classic, i will loose myfavs.

So the CSR was pitching my the Value plan and said none of my lines are eligible for the 5GB/$5 data plan. I think the eligibility to add this line to your current contract is if you are 18 months into your contract. I actually went ahead and got the contracted 2 year 1000 minutes value plan with 2 additional lines at $5 a piece, unlimited text on all lines, and 2GB data on 3 lines, with a $10/month rebate for 2 years. Total is $90 before tax. The only thing I lost here is the ability to get a subsidized phone, which isn't a big deal to me. Hope that helps.

Loyalty rep said to be eligible for the $5 data plan it needs to be 22 months since I last upgraded. Since I upgraded 5 months ago, I wasn't eligible. Is this true? Anyone have different luck?

i think they are just making up numbers now, different reps told me different things

what exactly did you tell the CSR to get this? also, were you under contract or out of contract at that point? i dont need a subsidized phone either - ill gladly take the savings and go to chinatown and pick up an S3 for 350 bucks brand new on t mobile no contract - or probably 450 for the S4 when that comes out

i am out of contract for last 3 years. and rep told me to switch to classic plan before I could get this feature. They are just trying to upsell things.

No go for me. I guess I'm not eligible since I just did upgrades on both my family lines back in November. So it looks like its only for people that's close to the end of their contracts and looking for phone upgrade. Oh well! Any body know if there are better plans than my current one?

I have the same plan as you except I have 4 lines, the T-mobile@home line which is $10, and only a 10% freelancers discount. I was wondering if there are better plans out there too. My bill is about 179 a month.

For someone looking to stay on their Classic plan, aside from possibly losing upgrade eligibility, are there any other cons to this offer? I pay $10 for 200mb and am on a family plan. I'm upgrade eligible too.

My daughter in law just gave birth over Christmas. Would I be eligible for this plan? Thanks.
