T-Mobile $5/month 5GB Data Plan for Grandfathered/Classic Users

Same exact thing I was told. Though, one rep said I could do it on the old legacy family plan I'm on when I'm closer having my phones available for an upgrade.

Has anyone with the $5 data plan looked into whether they can keep something similar if they switch to Value? Normally, you would have to pay $10 for 2GB on Value.

so is there any way to dupe T-Mobile into giving me this plan if I'm a current AT&T customer and thinking about switching to T-Mobile?

Was able to replicate this deal, was on a 5 faves classic plan. Had to renew contract but was able to keep the same shared minutes and 5 faves deal I had before. Was $5 each for 2 lines at 5GB.

Called and the rep said the plan was designed only for 1! line out of the 3 lines that currently have internet on my line. However, I need to renew my contract for all my lines for the $15 discount.

I don't know if it's worth it, although it would only add 8 months to my contract. I did just upgrade 2 lines around March/November so that could be a reason why these two aren't eligible.

No go for me. I just upgraded two months ago. The rep told me that it for people that are 18 months into their contract. But the moment that they upgrade a phone then they lose it.

you guys spoke to loyalty right? I would try another rep.

Man is TMobile all over the place on their deals..

I was told I would qualify for Bridge to Value on the 18th month which would be between this month and next month but then the lady which was not part of loyalty told me they would not be allow to give me the deal because last year they noted on my account that I was eligible to switch to a Value plan for free without needing to pay a termination or migration fee... So for getting a deal I never used I can't get a $30 discount on my 2 data lines for the rest of the contract.. Does not make sense... Guess I'll try to call and actually speak to some one in Loyalty and try again...

For what it's worth, to recap, I did wind up with the One S for $109+tax, it did not reset my upgrade date (well it did, but then they fixed it) and on top of that it looks like they moved that line over to the $5 data plan since, I guess, that line is upgrade eligible it qualifies for the discounted data plan.

Now, in a few months, I'll be positioned to migrate to the value plan, without penalty, if I want.

I'd say that worked out to be a pretty sweet deal for me.

Awesome to hear! I was only suspicious of the deal because many reps like to make claims they cannot keep and do not have to up hold (without evidence).

Well... Tried one more time today... Since I am now well in my last 6 months of contract... And Bingo... Got the Bridge to Value deal... It should save us at least $30 a month on 2x5GB data plans for 6 months+... And since we plan to buy our upgrade phones directly... There shouldn't be any prob with keeping the deal...

I first called 611 and asked for Loyalty but the machine couldn't figure it out so I first spoke with a regular CSR but after taking care of a few other things on my account got transfer to Loyalty... And walla... Got a great discount... Make sure u call before they print u'r next bill so they can add u'r new data rate to u'r bill or u will have to wait till u'r next bill...

Keep trying folks... It is still being offered by Loyalty...

Just worked for me! $5 for my Android line. Have an HTC Sensation using Gingerbread so I can tether! I kept the $15/month plan I have for my iPhone line because it includes tethering. Totally awesome.

Make sure u take a very close look at u'r next bill.. Sometimes they don't add the credits although they have notes in u'r account that u should be getting them....

Is that 500 Text Messages for both lines or just on a single line ??? Right now I have Unlimited Text Messeges $20 but would love to get that down to $3-$5.. 500 should be more then enough....

Also is the -$10 credit for Bridge to Value aka $5 per line on top of the savings on the data.... Was it given to u since u kept u'r $15 tethering data plan... Guess I better call again... Right know this is my price point on 3 lines..

Thanks for the post, I was just able to add it pretty easily to my off-contract Even More Plus plan to two phones. One phone previously had Android Preferred (20$), and the other had the 200MB (10$). My rep's name was Jason.

I received a text from T-Mobile and the change immediately showed up on my account (Android app) as "Pref Shadow Web" for $5. It has not changed on the online account yet but I think that will take a little longer. Feels great to shave off 20$ of monthly fixed costs
