My friend is finishing their Master's Degree in Information Systems. Their capstone project is a relevant local event discovery called Planimal.

The idea is that it brings the relevant events to the user, rather than the user having to sift through 10s or 100s of things that you don't want to do before you find something that is relevant to your interests. It will take things like, age, location, relationship status, past events attended and interests into account before displaying the events to the user. It also focuses and enforces actual events - not "I lost my phone and I need your number" or "I found true love and we want to send you an announcement - give me your address"-type events - to improve relevancy.
We want to solve the "What do you want to do tonight?" or the "I guess we can check Redbox" problem.
