Delonghi Pinguino 12,500 BTU, 4-in-1 Portable Room Air Conditioner/ Heater/ Dehumidifier/ Fan (Dark Grey) $339+tax COSTCO B&M

Costco has the Delonghi Pinguino 12,500 BTU portable A/C for $389-$50 instant rebate= $339 + tax

This unit gets good reviews and has worked great for me for the last 3 months, cooling a medium sized room (16x14ft). Some of the older reviews talk about some issues with the units clogging, but it seems like these have been addressed in the newer model, according to other reviewers and my experience.

I got it when it was at regular price. Went to costco today and bought it, then returned it with the old receipt.

This deal is published in Costco booklet but does not require you to bring coupon, instant rebate is applied automatically.

Not only is a great price IMO, but is covered under Costco's lifetime return policy.

This item is not in their website, B&M only.

Link for reference [costco.com] since $50 instant back appears to be in store only. Also title claims 12,500 BTU 4-in-1, which I haven't been able to find any indication of existing (link is for 12,000 stated BTU, probably still the right product given the price points listed)

^ Actually, the product at the store is a different model number, and is 12,500 BTU. As stated in OP it is not posted at their website.

This portable air condition sucks. My mom just bought it today to cool a small bedroom in a house that my parents are temporarily renting while their house is getting rebuilt. From what I saw it is mostly made of cheap plastic, you can't adjust the vents, and it took a while (almost an hour to get it down from 84 to 75) to cool a small 10 x 8 bedroom. If you can get the Idylis 12000 btu one from Lowe's instore for $298 it is much better. Cools my 12 x 10 bedroom in less than 30 minutes. It is a little bigger but has a wider vane, adjustable vents and feels like its built more solid than the Delonghi. If I didn't purchase the Idylis and not have something to compare the Delonghi to I probobly would think that the Delonghi is a good portable A/C. Idylis may not be a popular brand but it sure does perform like one. The Delonghi looks and performs like a cheap knock off brand. Posted the deal a few days ago. Link below.

honestly, if it takes an hour to cool down your small bedroom, you might have a bad unit. Mine cools down my bigger bedroom in 15-20 minutes

Thanks OP for posting it. i was looking at it last week at my Costco looks good to me. I was wondering if you have any link for life time Costco warranty. I guess it depends on the manager and told at my Costco by a assistant manager that her boss instructed them not take any item back after certain period. The way she explained it to me sounds like companies take item back up to a certain time period and after that Costco has to take the loss and generally they sell it to a third party about 30% of the cost of the product.
Their return policy in their website puts a 90 day limit for certain electronics categories, and it leaves it open for the rest of the categories, since gives no time limit for teh rest of them. About a year ago I returned an xbox 360 that failed after 3 years, and they gave the money back, no questions asked... not sure if YMMV depending on location, but it shouldn't since it is their policy

I have a Pinguino (older) here in So. Cal. we use it maybe two to five days in the Summer. It rocks. It pumps the hot air outside through a window that's slightly open.

We don't have a central AC (by choice to save boatloads) and use low-e glass. We only use the thing 2-5 days. So for the other 360 days our house is comfortable regardless (ceiling fans).

So it makes life bearable during heat spells. It really does cool down one room. We usually move it from room to room towards night for all of us to sleep comfortably. Then we leave it in ours by midnight I have to turn it off because its downright cold.

Way better than central AC from a cost perspective and it works! One of the best things we bought because when its hot you need to cool down to sleep. Highly recommend I bought an open-box for about $150. Our neighbors are jealous.

This is not meant for constant cooling... more for spot cooling. So electricity costs should not be any factor at all.

Could be a faulty unit but its going back regardless. Considering it does not have a drain plug or hose it will eventually leak. 2 1/2 stars on Amazon says it all.

I wonder what the difference is between the one in store for $339 and this one for $389 on their website except for 500 BTU difference.

I have an older penguino PAC CT90 and its aweful. It draws 1800 WATTS, major energy hog, and it can barely cool a room.

It only has the one exhaust hose, so it has to use the cool air it produced as a medium for the heat exhanger. then, in order to balance the loss of air in the room through the exhaust, it has to draw air from other rooms or the outside, heating the room back up!

This is a terrible unit. If you're getting an indoor unit, get one with an air intake and exhaust hose for the heat exchanger.

those are some really old reviews... I keep hearing the old models leaked but they fixed that problem now.
I think I'm going to try it out, I'm desperate and can't afford installing Central air ($12k estimate)
