I didn't see if anyone mentioned this, but some studies are starting to show that there isn't much corrolation between obesity and skipping breakfast. Some mornings I'm just not hungry and I may not eat until 10 or noon. As long as you are not taking more calories than you are OK.
Actually there is a lot of research that shows breakfast isnt as important as the old school thinkers like to believe. I currently am a HUGE fan of Intermittent Fasting. Never eat breakfast and feel fantastic! Oh and -8lbs since I got all pissed at my holiday gluttony! Cool

I tried IF and I like the idea behind it, but eating that much food in a sitting was hard. Most times I couldn't finish, I was stuffed. I ended up doing 4-5 meals but it was tough.

But I don't sweat it when I'm not hungry in the mornings.

I've heard lots of good things about IF, but I haven't done it myself. In fact, when I lost 55 pounds, I did it by eating 5-6 meals per day. I'd say to each their own, and do what you think is best. Wink

Well the eating window can be larger depending on your preferences. Personally I eat mostly in 2-4 hours, but in general it is recommended 6-8 hours, so you shouldnt have to cram it all in to one meal. But yeah to each his/her own. I just like the idea behind manipulating your hormones to help boost the already good habits you implement by watching what you eat and such.

The problem we have in our household is we only eat once a day, and I truly mean this, we don't eat breakfast or lunch; only dinner and it's usually at a very late time in the evening. Normally we eat dinner sometime around 7-7:30 or even as late as 9pm; due to the schedule we keep as caregivers - it's hard to eat at a decent time. I know hubby with how hectic this is will eat leftovers for breakfast which is bad for him - as it's usually leftovers from dinner. I really don't have an appetite during the day due to be a caregiver; and if I do feel the least bit hungry, I'll go for the mini-carrots. Last night we didn't eat until 10 pm Frown

Is 5'5" and 138lbs considered obese or overweight? The idea with my doctor's was for me to put weight on when I only weighed 92lbs.

It probably depends on muscle to fat ratio, but that certainly doesn't sound anywhere near obese to me.

Eating healthier is one of my main goals here; and trying to transform hubby as well into eating healthy. I don't think I'm obese, but there are certain body ares that need some work; and maybe this will help with that. Hubby needs to loose that belly fat he has gained; he does a lot of physical work; but because of his lousy eating he has gotten what some would call a "beer belly" - yet he doesn't drink. I have extra weight in areas I'd like to lose; but not lose so much weight; that I'm unhealthy anymore.

I'm 5'2 and 120 lbs. and I wear a size 0. I have a tiny waist with a big booty, hips, and thighs (all mostly athletic). I definitely do not think 5'5 138 lbs. is overweight or obese. It's more so important to put the weight on healthily. That means exercising, eating more healthy calories, and gaining the weight steadily.

I hear you on the eating late. My boyfriend has a martial arts gym that keeps us out until about 9 p.m. two nights a week which means we don't eat until 9:30 or later. On other nights, we like to work out in the evening and then don't end up eating until 8:30 or 9:00; however, we don't go to bed until midnight or so. We're just night owls as opposed to morning people, so it works for us.

I am also not a breakfast eater, but I do eat lunch. It is important to eat as much as you can throughout the day as that helps your metabolism and digestion. I should really take my own advice on that, but I just have such a hard time eating in the morning.

I did put the weight on steadily and healthily; it was tough in the beginning to put weight on and keep it on me. I was using Boost to put weight on me in the very beginning till I got up to 110lbs; then they took me off of it; to see if just regular eating would allow me to gain weight and I did. Then I just kept putting the weight on; which the dr's agreed was good for me. I don't get to go to the gym with taking care of my FIL, no time for that; but I do my exercises at home from what they taught me in PT from accidents I've had; which helps keep me flexible. Walking up and down the stairs a lot every day; gives me a lot of exercise that way. I have weights at home I use; and can do other exercises as I do household chores or helping my FIL. I would like to get in better physical shape right now.

When I read it, I should have only eaten 3-4 times in the feeding window with the post training meal being the largest. So I'd finish P90X at 10 ish, then eat a 1200 calorie meal around 12pm. I struggled with eating 1200 calories in 1 sitting. I did it for 2 months, but I think I should have pushed myself harder with P90X.

That seems good, I'm the same height as you and my end goal is being in the 140s with 16-18% body fat.

Don't know what my body fat ratio is; I guess being a size 2-4 for so much of my life, then going up to what is probably a size 10 right now, seems so........different for me at this point; I'm carrying the weight in my hips and boobs; and some in the belly area. I don't have an issue with what I weigh; I'd just like to get in better shape physically - that's the hard part for me!!
