Popular Science comes up as a freebie a few times a year, although right now there isn't a freebie for it. Otherwise you can often get it for less than $5 a year from various places like DiscountMags etc Maybe set up some deal alerts for yourself so you can get PM's when magazines you're interested in are posted in the free forum or in hot deals.
