I've noticed that people often have questions about price/coupon matching, or have trouble executing price matches. I'm hoping to provide all the resources you need for successful price matches. Some of these policies are hard to find so I hope this list is helpful to noobs and veterans alike.

My first rule of price matching is to bring a printout of the store's PM policy with you. Before you, go have the relevant sections highlighted, this includes anything having to do with rebates, coupons, etc. This puts them on notice that you are serious and have done your homework. Nothing beats the feeling of having a manager contradict the PM policy, then pulling the PM policy out of your pocket and pointing to a section (already highlighted) that negates what he said. When that happens, you'll get your PM 100% of the time, and the manager will feel like a tool. Hopefully there will be lots of other customers nearby when this happens Grin

These are the price matching policies of the most popular SD retailers, in alphabetical order. If you can think of any that I missed please add them to the wiki.

One thing to note is that some of the retailers above do not PM other stores but it's still helpful to know what their PM policy is. For instance, Amazon will give you a price adjustment within 30 days if they lower their price. I've been told at least twice that they cannot adjust the price once the product has been shipped. Then I respond with the blurb about price adjustments, along with a direct link to that section, and viola, I've got my price adjustment and an apology. (Amazon no longer offers price protection.)

Does lowe's or HD match the online price of Bestbuy or HHGregg's or sears? Trying to buy washer/dryer. There are only few they specify in the local ads, online they sell more varities..it will be really hard to price match something which is in the localad when they only have hardly 1-2 washer in the ad.

TIA

i'm not sure if this is the right place, but i just wanted to post a really great PM'ing experience I had at Best Buy last night.

i have to say something about my experience with BB last night. It was one of the best transactions i can recall. last weekend i purchased a samsung tv, a PN59D550, it was a display model. long story short, the tv kept turning off by itself. so i took it back for a refund. i really wanted the PN60E550 but it was on sale everywhere but BB. when my refund was being processed, i asked about pricematching. the guy said sure, show me the price. i couldn't get my phone to show HH gregg's weekly ad, so he offered to use the computer at the service desk. he pulled it up noted the price and asked for a manager to allow the pricematch. the manager came over, he saw the price, and mind you the BB price was $1919 and the HHGregg price was $1397. He started processing the order. He even let me use the 3x rewards point card as well. He didn't try to weasel out of the PM, it was a smooth transaction.

I've had a very similar experience with Best Buy and respect them as a company quite a bit now.

You probably are not eligible. If it is a significant amount, return the item and repurchase it at the lower price.

but how can be eligible??

I have a question about Lowe's policy. I went there today to buy a washer. I tried to price match to Yale Appliance, which is a local, but relatively big and reputable store in Boston. The salesman told me that they only price match to big chains. I talked to the assistant manager and he told me to come back tomorrow to talk to the store manager, because he can't do anything. Online they don't say anything about matching to big chains only. What are your experiences at matching to local stores at Lowes? Should I even bother to go tomorrow? It's quite a drive for me.
