I'd try an oxyclean mixture in a spray bottle.

The timing belt slipped or broke and there was no engine damage? I wouldn't bitch about that. I'd be thanking my lucky stars.

Presumably it's a non-interference engine.

I would have to agree with that statement, if it's an interference engine, oh boy, he can kiss that baby good-bye as far as a repair bill goes Greedy That is one major problem, and when people are told there are "x amount of miles on the vehicle" and that needs changed, there is a damn good reason for that Ermm The valves will open at the wrong time and then be struck by the pistons, and the end result will be hundreds of dollars in damage to the engine Greedy It's not just a Technician saying it needs to be done to make money off of you; it's trying to keep your engine from extensive damage nod

I only have practical experience with Honda engines not of this century.

You're telling me. I had an early 80's Honda Accord and needed to replace the head gasket. My shade tree mechanic brother in-law insisted on helping me. He made sure the cylinder was at top dead center when he re-attached the heads.

Too bad he counted the cylinders from the wrong end of the block. Doh

He isn't allowed near any of my cars now. laugh out loud

I would also try a Mr Clean Magic Eraser on it. They're pretty inexpensive.

Seems like they take forever, with pics of the heart before you begin, then the
actual stress test on the tread mill, then waiting for your heart to relax so they
can take pics again of it in a relaxed mode once again.
Piece of cake nod
Well, I survived the stress test, now I just have to wait for the final results. So far everything looks good but I guess the pictures will say for sure. The anxiety was the worst part of the whole ordeal but once things got started I just focused on what was happening and everything went pretty well.

My blood pressure leading up to the stress test when I was still really freaking out about the whole thing went up to 156/98 but once I got on the treadmill it never went above 130/80.

I guess now I just wait for the final results and see what happens next.

There is a product out there called "Krud Kutter" I use it on practically everything, you can find it at Lowe's and/or Home Depot - you might want to try that on the ceiling to see if it will come off with that. The idea of a Magic Eraser also might work as well, but try the Krud Kutter first, the Magic Eraser with it being a flat paint on the ceiling will probably take the paint right off. If this is an apartment though, that ceiling has probably been re-painted over and over again; therefore, the chances of taking too much paint off are pretty slim with either of these two products, if you think about it. They normally re-paint and come in and spray it on, usually between tenants; so depending on how old the place is, depends on how many coats of paint is up there.
