Thanks! I'm SO beyond excited!

Question for those of you who've been through this before: The rules state that if travel can't be completed by June 30th, then you can opt for the $4150 as a cash prize. Is it that easy if I want the cash instead? Just say I can't travel, and they give me the other option? Or is there more to it. Just curious so I know what options I have; though I have a feeling the girlfriend won't let me take the cash since she's been wanting a vacation for a while.

And thanks for the congrats! Previously, the biggest win I got was a $150 computer case. And I was beyond stoked about that!

What kind of trip is it? Personally, unless it was something unique (VIP passes, special guest, unique activities, etc), I'd take the cash and plan my own vacation with it. You'd save money too since a lot of those trip prizes are overpriced.

This is my thinking as well. The only thing special about the trip is passes to a grand opening of a new gallery, and a few passes to other museums/art things. So nothing overly special, that's for sure.

I would take the cash, you could plan a nice trip with it and still have some left over to pocket

Trips are always overvalued as how much is spent depends on how far you have to travel and when, etc. I've only won one trip. It was valued at $3800 and they actually spent $2200. I received a 1099 for the $2200 they spent, that's all. So if it's a trip you want to take go for it. I actually researched the lowest prices for airfare and hotel before taking the trip and was somewhat surprised when I found out the travel agency used by the contest administrator was able to get everything for substantially less than I could have. And I know the places on the Internet to find the best deals on travel. Most companies that give away trips on a regular basis have deals in place with corporate sponsors. On my trip they used Delta and MGM. If you do take a trip you won always ask for and keep receipts. You only have to pay taxes on what they spent.
