That was a good novel too. Can't wait for the third and final novel to be released...

Now I have three novels in hand...not sure which one to pick
Catch-22 [wikipedia.org]

Stranger in a Strange Land [wikipedia.org]

Snow Crash [wikipedia.org]

I finished Catch 22 a little while ago. It was really good. I haven't read any of the other ones.

After Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (which was AWESOME!) I re-read my "trashy" pick of Hit List by Laurell K Hamilton. I started the Anita Blake series long before it got all romance novely. Hit List got back to some of the great fight scenes. Still kinda cheesy though.

Next up is Slaughter House Five. I tried reading Jailbird, but found it boring a quarter of the way through and gave up. I really liked some of his other novels.

I'm also reading Don't Know Much About History. It is a good source for us adults who didn't pay attention in History class and now actually want to know history!

My husband read that one. He has started it several times over the years and then just buckled down and did it. It took him almost 6 months to slog through it. He admitted to skimming some of the speech - and he NEVER does that. He's glad to have it behind him.
Whew. I thought it was just me. I normally read very fast. I am 78% done according to my kindle and it's been ten weeks or so (I never have time to read Frown )

What is the loc # on the kindle on the lower right? I understant the % on the left...just curious.

I think the loc # is just a pagination method Kindle uses.

DH just started re-reading it and is already hassling me to read it again. I will, just not yet.

I've been reading my head off! Just re-read the Hunger Games series in anticipation of the movie next week, and read "Lights Out" by David Crawford. It's a self-published book about the aftermath of an EMP. Not great, but interesting enough for me to read the whole thing and it was pretty long so it took forever to read when I only read in the carpool line and before bed.

I'm sure there have been a few others. Right now I'm reading a collection of dystopian short stories, but I'm not loving it. I may abandon it and move on to something else. It's depressing to read short snippets of miserable lives with no redeeming qualities.

You are all in for treats if you've not read Catch-22, or Slaughterhouse Five, or Stranger in a Strange Land.

I just finished the first two "Wool [hughhowey.com]" novellas which were awesome but I don't want to pay $0.99 for #3 if Amazon will let me borrow it next month for free. So I'm re-reading Armor by John Steakley (again).

I've been slacking. Got the Dance with Dragons in November but I have to re-read the series(Song of Fire and Ice aka Game of Thrones HBO series) since there is such a wait between books. I'm about 1/4 the way through the 2nd book. Bad part is anticipating when "Bob" dies or when XYZ event happens.

High Five

I watched Season One and started reading the books. I have been on Book Four: A Feast for Crows since November, I think. It is so frustrating to read when new characters get added in that I absolutely don't care about. I hit one of these chapters and leave it for a month until I read a few chapters, run into another character I don't give a crap about, and leave it again for a month. Yawn

My boyfriend just got Dance with Dragons and started re-reading book three. Now he is thinking he might have to re-read the whole series to try and pick up on the little things he never noticed before.

It has really been such a great series! I am so tired of these dull filler characters though. I am ready to finish this book! It shouldn't take this long!

Oh yeah, and waiting for "Bob" to die did end up taking much longer in the book than I expected. I kept waiting and waiting and waiting! I would get all excited, and realize it wasn't going to happen yet Teehee

I love how no "main" character seems to be safe from death.

I like dwarf, dog, Snow, beauty, dragonlady, and the kingslayer chapters the best. Its funny how I naturally go for the Starks unless its a dwarf or KS chapter.

I completely agree! I love how sometimes you end up feeling like you might be rooting for the bad guys - and that it's sometimes hard to tell exactly who the bad guys are. Secret

Let's see..I finished Catch-22, then read Slaughterhouse 5. I need a break from heavy reading so I read Hunger Games. After that I started Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Not as good as Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, but still good!

I found P&P&Z to be tiresome after a while. It was OK, but there's only so much you can do with dreadfuls. laugh out loud

Haven't tried the Lincoln book - may have to give it a whirl!

I'm reading Unbroken [amazon.com]right now.

currently reading through Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? [wikipedia.org] a coworker recommended it to me years ago, and i never got around to it until now. i'm less than 10% through it, and the first bit was pretty slow, but it's starting to pick up.

before that, i read the original version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. [wikipedia.org] i didn't really like it; it was very short and not nearly as dark as i was led to believe.

before that, i continued my Christopher Moore run with Coyote Blue. [wikipedia.org] i read a couple of his and enjoyed them, so i'm now starting at the beginning and reading them in order of release. he's a better writer in the later books, but the early ones are still enjoyable.

Saw the movie this weekend. We thought it was good. I'll consider checking the books out of the library when they have a chance to cool down.

I tore through A Feast for Crows in about 4 days. As for myself I'm on A Dance with Dragons about 1/4 -1/3 of the way done and I've stalled for about 2 weeks not doing any reading.
